I don't know why they don't introduce the car park barriers with the bar hung down below it before the obstacles.

There's an underpass in Basingstoke that frequently catches large vans, and they have to reverse up a one way road to get back to the escape lane.

Obviously if it's a picturesque village it would be less appropriate.

Ouch.

It shows how common dashcams are when two cars caught that.

The way they were both driving I'd say they knew each other was some kind of outing.

Reminds me of the 10 Pence Short incident.

I wonder if the jailed driver Pratt had had any advanced driver training? When he realised he'd got the corner wrong and could see the approaching motorcyclist he could've steered right and into the scenery, but that's with the benefit of hindsight.

Only a screenshot, since I doubt you are interested in a 30+ minute video of me stuck in a queue with an entire village in gridlock, but this absolute cretin who decided the weight restrictions didn't apply to him, and that single track country road was the perfect place to take his HGV down.

First class travel? More like first class censored
The problem driving a HGV is if you do make a wrong turn somewhere your kind of stuck already, you can’t just whip a U-turn in some ones drive way so what do you do? Keep going and hope for a big enough roundabout/junction? But then there isn’t any and your suddenly in some serious tight roads/trouble.

Round here , one truck makes the same “mistake” on a regular basis causing all sorts of problems.

Hope this post isn't serious but just incase it is....there was a dashcam on the car behind (and presumably that driver isn't a and wouldn't let his friend get away with practically killing someone) and there were at least two more motorbike witnesses, possibly with cams, behind the victim.

Anyway, he truly messed up that corner, didn't even look like he was going that fast or very out of control. He Just seemed to drift across the lanes with no reaction to he oncoming bikes. Odd and sod all the bike could do about it which is sad.

the implication is you cause an incident (a major one nothing frivolous like speeding) and first thing you want to do, is try to shirk your responablities to your actions, i cannot see any other reason to delete footage. If any post was to give an indication of lack of morality, then this is one of the highest.

If people hadn't seen the video I bet most would assume the Subaru driver had been driving like an idiot to end up on the wrong side of the road.

I'm surprised that corner caused a Subaru that much of an issue at 70mph.

I know the motorcyclist is badly injured, but other people have been given less of a sentence for being at fault for bad accidents. There has been a few where drivers have killed passengers and got off with driving bans.

Is there more to this why he was jailed for 16 months? Is there previous?

It looks like he's done the decent thing and given his dashcam footage and admitted guilt. Why so harsh?

Looks like there's a slight crest, probably unweighted the front a bit at exactly the wrong moment and exacerbated the natural inclination toward understeer. (That's not a dig at Subarus, I had an Impreza, and in my experience that's how it'd behave, as would a lot of other cars).

16 months for giving someone life changing injuries isn’t harsh. That others have been given extremely lenient sentences doesn’t make this harsh just not unduly lenient like some sentences. The driver was extremely lucky the biker survived.

A quick google suggests over 90% of death by dangerous driving convictions result in prison time with an average sentence of just over 5 years.
