Morning troops, what do you think about this?

Were completely off my radar until there was a recent RR link on here. A lot are now barry’d but this one looks good for the miles and under thread max:

Looks a good car overall

Make sure the suspension is all in fine fettle and they're a good motor; basically an E39 on stilts wink

Oh; check for oil leaks too. The engine is known for them...

This is not in budget but I’m posting simply to share the excellence of the rear cabin and armrest of joy. I hadn’t realised these came in a ‘long’ version with the fixed tv screen between the seats. Shiatsu function on said seats too.

If the exterior were dark blue and the interior pale leather it would be a beauty.

Remaining stubbornly well above budget these.

Any Subaru beards here? 3 litre, slusher, decent ad, a tad bland perhaps, £4,190 ono

These are great cars, the outback being essentially a tall legacy, they share the majority of components.
I've just got myself a legacy but mine is the import with the 2.0 twinscroll turbo engine.

These 3.0s are essentially bullet proof with regular servicing and oil changes. The mpg is low 20s I believe

The uklegacy forum is really helpful if you have any specific questions.
My 2004 H6 Legacy Outback could do 30 on a motorway run without trying too difficult.
High teens around town.

My 2019-2020 mileage/mpg summary.
Admittedly, I do a lot of motorway and this included a 2700 road trip in 2019.
I bought a new cat back exhaust 3yrs ago (£110) before the trip around Europe when the Y piece was blowing but was easily fixed with a large dollop of P40 which is still in place and not blowing.
The high road tax is worth every penny if you don’t want to be standing by the roadside waiting for the breakdown truck wink

They didn't do a long version, they're all the same length. Most have that TV screen, but it isn't fixed. Pressing a button on the infotainment screen makes it fold away.

We've had that late last year I think. Started off at £4,000 then £3,500.

Ad states 125,000 miles.

Photo clearly shows a reading of 129,470 miles.

Seat and steering wheel appear to be from a 500,000-mile car, owned by Mr. Creasote.

I'm feeling pretty heroic today, having just undertaken the major task of replacing my windscreen wipers.

Those of you with a long memory, or with nothing going on in your lives, may recall that the last time I tried this I cocked it up spectacularly and had to find a replacement wiper arm. I kid you not.

I'm counting that as a barge win. It's possible I'm not the complete fkwit I thought I was.

Hearty congrats CdG. Is it too early for a celebratory beer?

I looked at these last year when I was barge shopping. I'm not sure the 600 makes any sense over the 460 for an old car; it only seems to have existed as a tax fiddle or to get around low emission zones and suchlike, now it's just a lot of weight and complexity for no real benefit over a 460. I was hoping for performance approaching at least a contemporary 760, but the figures I've found online suggest it's more like 730d performance

https://zeperfs.com/en/fiche3282-lexus-ls-600h.htm

Great armrest though.

You're doing well. I was checking the oil on my Skoda today and just wondered what I'd do if one of the LED headlights fails. Short answer - take it to a man and have my trousers pulled down. Almost nothing on this car is serviceable in minutes. Urgh.

One of the matrix LED headlights died in my MX5 when it was a couple of months old. It was fixed under warranty but the part was in excess of £700 + VAT eek

Jokes on you the key is pure 1980s Ford. The remote fob is from a Volvo with "Aston Martin" hastily added in crayon.

Just out of interest, is it possible to have the wood veneer look on the dashboard/console overlayed with something like carbon fibre?

That says 14.1 to 100mph, the same website says over 20 seconds for a 730d (E65). I wouldn't call that similar performance.

I may well get one when we’re allowed out again, and why have one over a 460? “because it exists”.

The extra complexity doesn’t worry me, buy under 15 years old and get the Lexus Health health check for £70 pre purchase to make sure it’s all still in spec for the miles/ age, the tax dodge is largely irrelevant bar the smug factor, but that they’re 4WD is a major bonus for me in Scotland. The roads here are absolutely dire.

I still remember a few years ago being in a friend’s XFR, on the Salisbury Road out of the back of Marlborough there’s a little industrial estate, now a Tesco, with BP and Ginsters collection point. I think they’re building in the flood plain opposite, as is the modern way. A 600 came round the roundabout and up the hill (a dual carriageway) away from town. With fresh fuel the XF was booted, and we really struggled to reel in the big Lex, it took until many leptons to do so. I wasn’t expecting that at all.

ETA that nice red like the 460 no one should buy, with cream, and sub 120k please. Black/ black with >200k is pricey at 11k, the silver one on AT at the same money has 110k.

Looks closer to 745i performance. Also looks like there is an L version.
