The emphasis on the insta-satisfaction of the clarity after polish highlights the lack of commentary of the protection. Fantastic if one has enthusiasm for an endless repetition, but it's not the same as a job done properly, irrespective of whether or not it's a paid service.
It's not just the continual polishing, but the inference that there are frequent periods in between degradation cycles during which the luminosity from the headlights is sub-par. Fine for a daytime car, but one has to gauge their requirements accordingly -- the toothpaste trick is no panacea.

For those that fancy a straight six, turbocharged Mercedes diesel but can't quite stump up £40K plus for something with a "400d" badge on its rump, may I suggest this? I can speak from personal experience when I say this really is a lovely engine, despite it drinking from the Macron triggering pump. My own E320cdi was smooth, quick enough, would do an actual 50mpg and even sounded quite nice.
At 44K, assuming the rust isn't too tragic, this could make an excellent barge. So much so, I have already requested the registration number so I can do the requisite checks. I'm not even put off by the milky headlights. I know a man who can fix them for about £60.

Wrong engine (wrong wheels?) but tidy looking.

Poor pics and a not very forthcoming ad, but looks OK (if a bit dull colours-wise).

For those wanting to try an integrated approach to in-car tech upgrades, xcarlink seem to have most bases covered. I found them as I was looking to sort out some sort of smart phone mirroring on my e39 without having to go down the upgraded headunit path. They even have aLexus solutions page...

3k is a bit rich for a 2001 isn't it? At 44K, assuming the rust isn't too tragic, this could make an excellent barge. Indeed, the unicorn that is, a good rust free, W210 E430 would make a most excellent bargistas conveyance.

In this day and age? It depends on whether it as iron oxide free as the vendor suggests. If it is so, I would happily spend £3K on a good W210. they seem to have a solid feel about them. The ride and handling is very pleasant and dare I say it, far better than my current W205 C Class. I fully understand that those who have never owned a W210 would struggle to see the appeal.

I can't see it being rust free sadly its too many shades of silver, They are a good drive it's always been a shame the liked to rust and as for the 430 I think r129sl regrets selling his which seemed to be in decent condition at the time Indeed, the unicorn that is, a good rust free, W210 E430 would make a most excellent bargistas conveyance.

Could someone please clarify something for me. It appears that BMW V8s of a certain vintage are a tad leaky. Is this a common malady or are engines from a certain time period ok? The idea of an eight cylinder E38/E34 appeals.
E34's and early E38 and E31 are M60 V8 engines with a double row timing chain and rocker cover gaskets that don't leak much at all. Later E38, E31 and E39 V8 engines are M62 engines with a single row timing chain, weaker timing chain guides and leaky rocker cover gaskets. From 1999/2000 the V8 engines are also single vanos which may need a bit of work as the mileage climbs.Edit; An easy way to tell them apart is the later M62 engines have a black induction pipe...
...and the early M60 engines have an aluminium pipe...

If anyone follows volvo dreams on FB, ( yes, really) there is a thread winning S90 for sale for £3500. It is the mildly extended version with electric heated rear seats. It’s also mint. And not thread busting for once at £3500.
I cannot do links, shortcuts, post pictures I’m afraid. I apologise. But a breath of fresh air v lots of many repeat vehicles of the usual suspects.

Wow.All this daft pricing, and yet probably less than £20k could bag you the ultimate “one car for life”. You can keep that diesel Merc with the stupid neon interior.

The coolant system suffers similar age related failures with heat effects on plastics
I enjoyed 14 years with my E38 740i although I laid it up for a few years which didn't help with some things - it went to another PH'r

That's a great recommendation, thanks. It seems they might have something which will fit my 130i which doesn't mean chopping the dash up to fit a double din stereo.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
