Cheers - hope you're keeping well, otherwise, CdG? smile
If it's more of a high days and holidays thing, go for the sexier car (SC430, obvs!)

All good thanks. Well, all good considering! smile

Slightly chavved though. Are those meant to be Bentley logos on the headrests?
The driver's seat looks a bit hammered otherwise interesting car.

Must admit I'm not a fan of the SC430 but as long as you like it that's what's important biggrin

Nah, it's not quite deserving of a whoosh parrot as much as Bolstergate.

After 156,000 I'd say it looks pretty good! And presumably with those miles, only commited VWists would want to buy it...

Minor improvement to one of the Omegas in the form of a new steering idler (steering box, definitely extra barge points).
50 quid very well spent (and twenty minutes with a big hammer) - it now goes where I want it, without mulling it over for a few seconds first...

An acquaintance of mine had one of these, the noise it made was glorious. In this age of turbocharged 4 pots it would look daft at the traffic light GP, but otherwise a good steer.

A mate of mine is a VAG Indy and reckons these DSG boxes are really good if the oil gets changed.

You spent £1300 to get your old faithful Cherokee through its MOT, and bugger me, the ABS light is on. Under a grand if anyone else wants a go. Cheap for a 4.7 Ltd.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that Chrysler’s engineering was inferior. It was intended to be cheaper and more robust than (for example) the 4.4 you would’ve got in an X5 or Range Rover, and it was.

The Chrysler 545RFE is a stronger gearbox than the ZF in the Range Rover and X5 too. If bhp/litre is the metric, the Grand Cherokee is certainly inferior but by other metrics is superior. It depends on your priorities
This. I’ve owned both and the Chrysler unit instilled a lot more confidence day to day. And it was still plenty of power to move the big lump of ‘Murica along at a decent pace.

I think that they are, actually, headrests from a Bentley. Perhaps R129SL could take this cue and retrofit some to his convertible for a faux-Crewe experience.

Although he hides it well, I've always suspected that, deep down, r129sl would love bling over Spartan authenticity if he thought his volte face would go unnoticed.

Good morning all from the Tebay Services Hotel. A thought for the start of the day; is this a mini-barge upon a mini-barge?

From the comfort (and distance) of my desk, I wonder why they didn't do the ABS pump?

You'll hate the LPG, especially as it has apparently had a [ETA, not full, but plentiful] bare metal respray and they thought slapping the filler there was a good idea. You'll love the DHP and modern additions (well I do). And the butteryness (butteriness?) of this optimistically priced (thread max) LS400.

considering its a rare estate version - a hunt around for some used headrests would see this ok in my book ...

Mini barge that has oddly increased in price over the weekend to over thread max;

- any reason (other than ambitious pricing) to not be interested in a pillarless V6 coupe with lots of buttons, and very low mileage/MOT horror stories?

Given it has boring colours - and therefore anonymous - would it be a satisfying barge? Size isn't everything...

Needs to lose a few hundred pounds in the haggle, as ever, but otherwise this appears to be a large, comfortable cruiser with plenty of boot space. I still miss my E39 version... Very tempting to get one of these as a light duty dog taxi.

Size IS everything and no pun intended. If you want a smaller barge then it could be perfect, well nothing is perfect so it could be ok. For me the definition of a barge starts with its size. You just dont feel the same level of self indulgence, smugness and aristocratness - see what I did there - in a smaller car. Sure the smaller car will still 'carry' you from a to b but will it 'move' you (as in emotionally) like a car which previously cost twice the price when new? Typically the extra levels of luxury and opulence come on the bigger more expensive cars. Its only a mid level product from Merc so it will be good but it wont be great.
