'Thank you' at give way to oncoming traffic junctions

A pet hate of mine, manners do not cost a thing, driving up a road with cars parked on both sides, you pull into a gap to let the cars coming the other way pass... If I don't get a thank you of any of them (more and more the case these days) it enrages me completely.
This is one of the most annoying ones, you can tell which ones won't give you a thanks I regularly thank people for following basic traffic rules and 'not killing me' when out on the motorbike.
In some cases they only didn't keep me because they were distracted by their phone or whatever - so hopefully in those cases it might have slightly helped them think a bit more (unlikely, I appreciate.)

I can't remember the last time I let someone out and didn't get thanked for it (except when when pulling to the middle lane to allow people to get onto the motorway, for some reason).
I get both thanked & unthanked, but what's becoming ever more noticeable, for me anyhow, is when you slow down and flash for someone to "go ahead".The number of times I've had to flash furiously to get their attention is increasing - do people really just sit there oblivious to the world around them?
Or are they not paying attention as they're more used to oncoming just not being courteous?
Then you have the ULTRA tentative - viewing your intentions as suspicious, as if you're going to drive into them!
I flashed some chav who pulled out of a junction on me once, just to let him know I was there. He stared at me through his rear view mirror then put up his hand in the standard reconciliation gesture, then slowly curled the outside fingers and thumb to leave his middle finger giving me the bird. Imaginative i thought.
