I disagree on the V6. It's a lump and you'll wish you'd spent less and bought a 156 GTA
Although were not talking about the 156? As a car I preferred the 156 in pretty much any guise bar looks..

Tough call. Love the 159 TI (in black), but Forester STI is a great car as well.

Got really excited by this...

Oh yeah sorry buddy, I was just searching for a pic of one, rather than one currently for sale over here! Pat on the back for the first person to post a link to an EVO estate smile

Or maybe the petrol V6?
If you can get one sure, there quite thirsty but it's a lovely engine also keep an eye out for chain rattles as there were mentions of them stretching. The 159 2.4 diesels are fine if your doing the mileage to clear the DPF, I take mine out for around 80 miles end of every month just to get the regen properly going. My mates 260 Bhp 2.4 with DPF / EGR / MAP is a seriously quick car.
If a diesel becomes a must in the future, the 2.4 159 TI estate would be top of my list....or should that be a 330d?!?!

Depends what you want, BMW is more technically competent / Alfa is better looking and less dull all round. I had a 335I before the 159, from BMW ownership experience the Alfa is cheaper to buy and run, there's not a hell of a lot difference in reliability but I'd say BMW's overall are better built.
