Come on guys, it's not really about the seats is it?!
This car is sold for one thing alone - the engine!
The facelift looks fresher but you can't get the NA 6.2 in that shape.

Id have this over an M5.

And it looks way nicer than the current E class IMO.

Are you sure that this car has a Performance Pack? As far as I'm aware the Performance Pack was only offered on the bi-turbo W212 E63, not the NA. IMHO the pre-facelift bi-turbo E63 is the most desirable E63, the newer cars have an awful snout.

I'm glad to have the choice of buying a 25k M156, no matter what is wrapped around it.

Ph: looks and upholstery matter.

The AMG badge looks wonky, so it either has been resprayed, wrapped or debagged. The last one is the least likely.

Fully agree.

I had the pleasure of using a Quattroporte for a long weekend and every drive felt like an occasion, and I just 'clicked' with it, despite it not being as 'developed' as the E63.
Last weekend, at Brooklands I played around with the latest version of the E63, which is all in all a more poished machine yet at no point in time gave the sense of occasion I was expecting it to give. It's an extremely potent and highly finished car which at the same time disconnects the driver from the fun part and as a result, makes it feel quite sterile (even when throwing it around on a track). It is quite possibly a lot easier to live with, and is quite competent as a 'all in one' package, but as a driver's car, I'm not convinced by it.
While the latest version and this have quite different engines, I'd be surprised if that would change my opinion...

I thought I would tell you all a little story. Once upon a time I was innocently sitting at my desk when one of the guys I work with posts the original YKYWT article relating to this car to our chat that we have. I should mention in context that this is a regular thing in the office with people sending their subjective version of a "good car" and then arguing for extended periods of time with a mines better than yours type theme. So anyway after being bombarded with such ridiculous images and value of the automotive kind I started to think maybe just maybe it was time to get rid of my rusty W210 E55 AMG and enter the modern world.

Approximately two days later I put a deposit down on the car and two days after that I collected this rather excellent vehicle! Damn you PistonHeads, damn you work colleague....actually wait this is the best thing I have done in a while even if it was expensive.

First impressions are that it is actually nicer inside than the pictures suggest. The grey exterior with the carbon fibre package, black glass sunroof and red calipers really give it a rather nice subtly aggressive look. I have only driven the car home so far and have had limited chance to give it the beans as it were but early indications are encouraging in the performance and sound department. That last bit might be quite an understatement because at motorway speeds this thing will eat your licence in a heartbeat.

Cheers to the nice easy to deal with man Danny that sold me the car I am so far very happy with it and it looks like a goodun.

Pistonheads the power to make someone buy a car by accident.

So since I'm curious, had it been resprayed or wrapped in the past?

I did look at this thread in detail before i can bought it. I had the car inspected and did HPI and looks like no issues. I will state that the rear of the boot angles out slightly towards the centre so might make the badge look slightly odd.

Have been looking at these and XF-Rs as a replacement for an irreplaceable E39 M5. F10 M5s still have more depreciation to do before they interest me. Definitely has to be the M156 6.2 motor over the bi-turbo.

I have heard they don't sound as good in the E63 compared with C63...any truth in that?

And on the subject of Quattroportes, what are the running costs like? Have heard too many horror stories about 3200 and 4200s...

I don't think the exhaust in the e63 is quite as lairy but this is a very fixable thing. For the moment I am happy with noise.
