RE: H.R. Owen's Ken Choo | PH Meets
Discussion
They reported pre-tax profits of £8.3M for 2018/19. Very basic maths (Assuming the profit was only made on car sales) would mean that they needed to sell over 5,500 cars a year (Or 15 cars a day) if only making £1500 on each one. Presumably some of that £1500 would need to go towards overheads too, so the number of cars sold to make the £8.3M profit would need to be significantly higher?

1) Yes I did. And I got a mild increase in line less than inflation. My role has evolved so I guess I'm underpaid relatively speaking. Do you know what I'll do? I'll change employer. Not whinge to the media.
2) They paid their staff what the job role required. So far as I can see the cleaners were doing EXACTLY the same job, so they didn't require an increase in pay. If they are not happy they can always go and work elsewhere. That's the free market. Odd that they didn't, which suggests they were already being paid more than other cleaning companies.
3) How much money do you ACTUALLY think HR Owen make per car sold? It's probably less than £1500. Regardless of the ticket price And they aren't banging them out 10 a day are they.
You do know most Premium Main dealers Jaguar/Mercedes etc make on average 5K per car so HR Owen will be making a fair bit more.2) They paid their staff what the job role required. I agree with Paddy on this.
My only connection with H.R. Owen is that the first owner of my Griff 500 bought it new from them, stumping up £39,995 in April 98 for it.
The car was their Showroom demo car, so it was specced up with most of the limited range of Options that TVR offered back then, inc the essential PAS and also Air Con, a very scarce option on these. But only the half leather option.
I have no idea just how £ much Owens made on the sale, but it would have been far more than £1,500 quid that's for sure.
