I presume that you're referring to "The Beast" which was nothing to do with Rolls-Royce (other than the engine), had only 4 wheels, and had absolutely no connection to Thunderbirds.

The chassis is from a cut down Bedford VAL. The Harrington Legionaire was built on a VAL chassis, as were Duples and Plaxtons e.t.c. :anorak off:

I visited last year and couldn't make out what engine it has in it despite crawling under a bit....It's a bit dear to get in IMHO but I wanted to show the little terrors FAB 1 in the flesh.

Saw the "new" one at Gaydon and it was also a monster.

When I win the lottery I will continue the "4 wheels good 6 wheels best" by buying a Covini and a Tyrrell P34......then transporting it in a converted VAL !

Hmmmmm.... looks like I'll be going to vist my mate Andy who is the Theatre Technician in Keswick Theatre. I wish I had known about that place when I lived in Carlisle and Newcastle.
