Anyone remember their parents reg numbers?
Discussion
My friends and family think I’m a right sado for remembering the Reg numbers. Even my late dad used to shake his head when we would talk about one of their old cars or bikes and I would give the Reg number haha! Great topic OP!
BLR 161B LHD beetle. My dad used to let me change gear when I was about 6 years old.
UHM 776F Beetle
EME 338B Mini 850
7763 MG Triumph Herald
YLA 269G MK1 Escort
EGJ 477J Corsair 2000E auto (I bought this car from my parents)
GBY 636J Hilman Hunter
Bedford dormobile I cannot remember the Reg of. In my defence it did have a different number plate on the front to the rear!
JMM 227P Audi 80
UEV 603W VW Golf
XAR 809S BMW R60/6
CMU 615V BMW R80/7
It was about this time I moved out and started getting into my own bikes and cars, so the memory of their Reg numbers ended and mine began lol!

DUC 15V was my Dad's Series III Land Rover, easy number plate to remember because it rhymes.
Loved that Landy when I was a kid, looked the plate up probably 10 years ago and there was no record of it, just checked again and it looks like it's alive again!
Was probably on a private plate for a while. When the owner moves on and takes the private plate with them, the older car gets its original plate back. I had a car that was like that, vanished from DVLA, MOT history sites etc shortly after I sold it. Then, after a few years it reappeared with all its old details (and more miles) as if it had never been away.Loved that Landy when I was a kid, looked the plate up probably 10 years ago and there was no record of it, just checked again and it looks like it's alive again!

Another thing is it shows as taxed but shows no MOT history which tallies with a vehicle of this age, as it is tax and MOT exempt. You still have to declare it as on the road with the DVLA but not actually put it through an MOT.
Here goes:-
82 DVK - Standard Pennant (white over blue) - I remember being in the back seat & waving people past when we went up a hill!
FVH 347C - Triumph Herald 12/50 (white over cherry red) - was like a rocket after the Pennant!
CVK 422J - Vauxhall Viva HC (white) - my dads first new car followed by quite a few new Vauxhalls.
NCN 347L - Vauxhall Viva HC (aqua starmist)
NGR 378P - Vauxhall Viva HC (champagne starmist)
BPT 503S - Vauxhall Chevette saloon (powder blue)
BPT 387W - Vauxhall Chevette Special saloon (light blue metallic)
A611 XCU - Vauxhall Astra 1.3 (China blue)
His last car was another Astra 52 plate (a motability car) in prestige blue - he continued driving until he was 87 before the dreaded “C” got him 😢

Only 2
6891 KR a 1964 Vauxhall Cresta jn green although it wasn't long before you started playing spot the new rust patch in the mornings.
6892 KR a 1964 Mini also in green.
The Cresta was my dads car and the Mini was supposed to be for my mum to learn in but that didn't quite work out.
Both were bought at the same garage hence the consecutive reg numbers and were my dads first new cars.

NEF 480P Morris Marina in an attractive brown.
AHN 2Y brand new my dad got for work, a Ford Transit or some such thing.
A320 GEM Datsun Cherry, mum's car I learnt to drive in; 'the little gem'.
HAJ 912 our grey Fergie tractor, the first thing I started driving.
Hopefully you had your tongue firmly implanted in your cheek as there is nothing attractive about about a Morris Marina.AHN 2Y brand new my dad got for work, a Ford Transit or some such thing.

Amazing to see it alive again but probably not much original left but this is how it was around 30 years ago (me and my brother in the back)
