RE: Lexus limo gets AMG snarl
Discussion
Massive lexus fan.
I hope they build it. When the LS400 came out, it smashed the germans, and I'm hoping this will do the same.
On top of that, the americans take notice of quality (JD Powers quality surveys), which is why Lexus rates well there.
In the UK, things appear to be more based around brand, and image. Shame some are so superficial.
I'd take a lexus over a german brand any day, because the quality is measurably superior.

That's the development mule, not the real McCoy, as the white LS image in the intro piece shows the new family nose.Don't like the bonnet - very played out as of Evo V and Scooby STi, circa 1998, and the Cossies prior to that - so hopefully that'll be engineered out.

Europe/The UK won't buy it because it has the wrong badge. Everyone else will love it though.
Mainly UK and Germany will ignore. UK cause it doesn't have "pedigree" (whatever the heck that means...) and Germany because... its not German.Lexus is quite popular in many other european countries.

I only posted the pictures because no one else had.
The other thing to bear in mind though is despite the new nose, by the time Toyota and Lexus take black plastic sheeting and padding off their test mules, they are usually 90% the finished article, with just finer tweaks needed.
New nose for sure, standard alloy finish wheels, and a range of bland body colors and it's done.
Dear Lexus,
start again on the exterior and add a bit more design restraint. Those AMG Mercedes are no reference point for 'design cues', all the new ones are pretty rank looks wise... but keep the engine, the engineering excellence and all the other bits you do so very well.
Ta.
Exhausts look rather ugly and unnecessary. If it ever made it over here, it would be one rare car indeed. I'm a big fan of the LS, but I think it's a bit brash and I don't think it suits the size and shape of this car at all.

I just came.
The real-life road presence of that thing will be immense.
Agreed, although I have to say the rear looks naf.The real-life road presence of that thing will be immense.
That front deffo has the "move over, peasant" presence of the AMG's.
Passed a matte black CLS 63 AMG yesterday, they look very intimidating on the road..
