RE: Audi D4 A8 facelift
Discussion
I bought a five month old fully loaded 5000 mile 12 plate 3.0tdi a8 that listed at just under £75000 for £41000 nearly a year ago now. I bought it for the safety aids , adaptive cruise ,side assist, lane assist and some kind of emergency braking system which have been absolutely superb and really makes the difference on long tedious journeys.
Quattro when the weather gets bad and a powerful 3.0 Diesel engine that does a genuine average of 36 mpg and an interior which makes a 5 serious seem like a reps car means I'm pretty much sold on buying another one if I can find one with the safety aids fitted again.
If you do 25000 + a year these are superb vehicles especially if you're just about to press the button on a high spec 3 series etc...
Try one and see what a bargain they are as a used vehicle.

I've always had a soft spot for the A8 in general, but while it has never been the most excitingly styled thing on 4 wheels it really is now getting to within a beige paint job of being the blandest thing on the road. The summary section of a popular car magazine once described the Ford Orion with "For: Nothing in particular. Against: Nothing in particular. Verdict: A triumph of marketing over engineering". While the engineering of the A8 is doubtless very good, if it were parked between an S Class, a big Beamer, a Quatroporte et al then one is left wondering : is this the Ford Orion of the large executive car market ???

I honestly don't understand why people buy these (or the 7-series or S-Class for that matter) given the horrific depreciation. They must have truly disposable income and be ok with it. However I am glad that they do.
Really. You're serious?I've spent a while driving one and once you go back to something even like a 5 Series, it's horrid.

Are those pictures of an A4, an A6 or an A8?
I can't tell.
If you can't tell then what are you doing on a website called Pistonheads? You've come to the wrong place..I can't tell.
Anyway, Looks a lot more elegant than pre-facelift, however i do prefer the look of the older more 'subtle' models.

Another luxury steering wheel that I don't like...
Why do they look like they are made out of bakelite nowadays?
Looks pretty much identical to the one in my A5 and, in the leather (so to speak), it's really quite pleasant to use. The controls also fall very nicely to thumb access...Why do they look like they are made out of bakelite nowadays?
Your right though, I've never like the audi wheel's since they went to this design.
