Mondeo dmfs are made of stern stuff my taxi mk4.5 is on 215k and still on its original clutch and flywheel
I don't believe you.Everyone knows that flywheels are knackered after a few hundred miles and cost thousands to replace. You're clearly lying about your Mondeo...
I'm now on 192k on the original flywheel and whilst it's getting worn it still keeps going.

I get in cars with a surprising number of drivers who like to make the poor thing lug and chug around at 900 - 1100RPM, changing up as early as possible so the poor thing is shuddering on the verge of a stall at all times. I bet their flywheel doesn't last 215K. Like the chap that started the thread about using as little throttle as possible to pull off.

I have decided to go ahead with the replacement clutch DMF and slave cylinder, quoted £740 from a mechanic I know well.
A SMF was only £65 cheaper and he told me the clutch would be more abrupt if changed.
He can do it in a day.
Good for you, you could buy another car but you have no idea of it's history and how it has been treated. Get even another year or two out of it for that £740 and it's done well.A SMF was only £65 cheaper and he told me the clutch would be more abrupt if changed.

Exactly my reasoning, the car is worth more than £740 to me and has just passed its MOT with no issues at all.£700-1,000 as a replacement car would buy something older or a higher mileage and an unknown past.
