RE: BMW M4: PH Fleet

I agree, if he hit your car, then why would you not follow the bus. If anyone hit my car with anything I would follow them, even if they went in some military barracks and refused to stop.
Also if you were over the bus lane line, then your insurer would also put you at fault and you would end up with both of you at fault. Many people who verge lanes and get hit end up loosing out and having to fork out themselves for repairs.
Perhaps dan thought, fk it, it's not my car, excess etc.

Screw the bus lane-i would have gone after him
Agreed. Would have given chase.Regarding tyre prices, main dealers will contact a few local tyre suppliers that they purchase from and then price a margin in above that. TBH most main dealers are not to bothered about being competitive on tyres because (a) it is not a major part of their business and (b) with the size of modern wheels and tyres, it is very easy to damage rims, therefore they would often rather not get involved in the first place.
Regarding paint, I am sure that plenty of us know a bloke who knows a bloke who could do a 'perfect' job for a couple of hundred quid, but the reality is that it:
- Will not be a perfect job - there will be differences in finish/colour match that show in certain lights and reveal themselves over time.
- Chips away jobs are not performed in perfect, temperature controlled, dust free environments; they might look good (if you are lucky) but they will not be perfect - they are suitable for a £5k used car, not a £70k M4!
- The car is owned by BMW and will be purchased by some poor s*d through the BMW approved used scheme when it is de-fleeted. Would you be happy spending £50k on a 9 month old M4 with dodgy paintwork?
- Getting it done on the cheap will have implications for the paint and body warranty in that area on the car.
- I imagine that this yellow is one of those paints that requires a lot of different processes to apply; the paint will be expensive and the process time consuming.

I had very similar damage on my 2014 M135i where my mrs reversed into a street bollard. Took it to my local BMW dealer and they quoted £180 inc. VAT. Gave me a 530d managers car while it was getting done too. I'll admit I only have the black metallic paint option, but I can't believe that would make it over £1k cheaper.
Oh yeah, I know top lurking, etc.. :-)
