Loved the E46 coupes. Had 5 of them in all over the space of about 10 years.
I would completely agree with the other poster who said the difference between a good example and a bad example is night and day. And in my personal opinion the E46 facelift coupe sport is the best looking car BMW have produced in about 25 years
This car is a Williams edition version, 1 of 26. Came with different interior and different exhaust system.
Changing to an E92 also makes you realise how superior the interior is on the E46 too.
They had the white leather with the Williams badge and stripes on? What was different about the exhaust? BMW Performance one dealer fitted?Loved the E46 coupes. Had 5 of them in all over the space of about 10 years.

FWIW the facelift 6 cylinder coupes do appear to have a deeper thrum at lower revs, and are raspier under acceleration compared to the prefacelift models. Looking at the ones I've owned it looks like they got rid of the butterfly flap near the tip of the tailpipes.

Hi e46 nerds - sorry for hijacking the post - looking at an e36 330i saloon at the moment which has 'all the toys' except bloody heated seats - worth taking a punt and stalking ebay to pick up a pair, plus the wiring, etc?
When buying an older car like an E46 don't pick the car based on spec, pick it based on condition. If it's a good straight car with no rust and no other problems buy it and live without heated seats.
That is a lovely colour, the blue really suits the lines of the car.
I looked at some E46's that seemed good, but drove like a bag of spanners. I also saw some rough looking ones that drove tight and smooth. Mileage didn't seem to make a difference either to they way they drove.
The only car that I have bought that had such a discrepancy in condition both mechanically and cosmetically.
I would advice anyone buying to test drive as many as possible and buy on condition not age or mileage.

Yes, thanks s_m.
E36 328i considerably quicker than E46 version, in fact nearly up with a 330i to 60 but not 100!
I've never driven an E36, but as E46s go I test drove a lovely 328Ci (even had the electric window blinds) but it felt so stodgy compared to the 325ti that I eventually bought. Might be partly because it was an SE, whereas all 325 Compacts had Sport suspension regardless of SE or Sport designation.
Also I believe the Compact had revised steering which the other E46s didn't get until the facelift, so post-facelift 330Ci Sport may just be the best non-M there is (E9* models are just too big) - please don't tell anyone until I have one!

Nagative, the twin vanos M52 has the head more like the M54, M50 manifolds don't fit. It's almost an M52 with most of an M54 head on it. A 3.0 M54 manifold might be a better bet?
I sold mine with 230K miles on it and didn't burn a drop of oil it was lovely. Shame the rest of the car it was attached to was rusting to buggery.
It does as we have fitted an M50 only just before christmas on my mates E46, Feels quicker than his dads 330i now up to 90 but then the 330 just revs that bit sweeter higher upI sold mine with 230K miles on it and didn't burn a drop of oil it was lovely. E46 330/328 -
E36 325/328 -
You've got those extra little holes on the TU head that wouldn't even be covered by the E36 inlet.
