The 944 Turbo was the best and most charismatic car I have ever owned. It was tweaked a bit, but they're still fantastic as standard. I even owned a rare 944S – both are still very much missed to this day.
It's about time Porsche celebrated the transaxle era! I would choose a 944 over a 911 any day of the week.
My Dad owned a 968CS at the same time as my Turbo. Any excuse to post a picture...

Love your 944T
Looking forward to my friend getting his Turbo out of the garage for the summer

That's my old car. Would you mind posting the link? I can't find it on ebay.
Not the eBay advert but I think this is it.http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C735796
The "it's not a Porsche, it's a VW" and "basically an LT / Audi engine" and "van door handles" and "Golf / Beetle switchgear" etc. arguments still burn brightly, I see...
Doesn't matter really, them that know, know...

When you said that, I thought "Oooh, I wonder..." - but thinking about it, there's a 4wd version available. Not the most sensible plan to shove all the drive from front to back, then fiddle about with it, then send half of it back to the front...
Nissan did it with the GTR. Jesus.

Unfortunately and no matter how ardently Porschar fans argue the 924 was a VW, in design and execution, the 944 a larger version of the same. Even Lotus never used van door handles on their cars.
Neither did Porsche (nor a van engine). Porsche didn't even use VW handles. Received wisdom / knowledge disparity.
