It’s great! Effortlessly powerful with stock 360bhp ish, excellent V8 roar (engine dropped in from the S5) , looks good, goes well, sounds good, doesn’t handle like a boat either with Pilot Sport 4s, suprisingly with the Haldex, air suspension is super comfy and you can also put in to S-Line mode (dynamic).

Didn't the Subaru Outback pre-date this by a few years?
10 years before this one, 5 years before the first Allroad. No V8, but the 3.0 flat 6 is nice.Subaru probably don't spend as much advertising money with hay market as VAG though.
Still, being a fan of estates with off-road ability I have often considered the virtues of Allroads. Sadly the tales of woe have put me off, and I do have to wonder whether they would really be as good off-road as my Outback (which I'll happily admit is inferior to an A6 in lots of other ways, but mostly ways that I'm not really bothered about).
I love cars like this. A proper do it all, Swiss Army knife of a car.
We've got an XC70 and whilst it doesn't get used everyday, as a family, utility, do anything mobile, they're great. Towing boats, tip runs, long distance cruising, dodgy weather or slippery grass fields, throwing numerous children and assorted gubbins in and getting them where they need to go in one piece and generally seeming unstoppable, whilst having big fat sidewalls and ride comfort that seems to have disappeared from other cars...
Estate + slightly jacked up suspension + big side walls + large engine + 4wd = spot on family car.
I can't say that I think it needs a 4.2l V8, but hell, why not!

I have the newer equivalent in the BiTDI.
It has 320 bhp and an incredible 479lb ft of torque, and wafts around beautifully.
I think that the Allroad is a hidden gem, not sure how the older ones contrast, but it’s not a car which Audi seems to have skimped on in building.
For family trips I definitely prefer it to the Landrover and it’s a much more relaxing DD than the Porsche.

That’s an ideal set up you have there bar the LR, the Audi seems to do everything the LR can do but better. Perhaps you should swap the LR for.....well nothing, 5 seconds 0-60, practicality and economyIt has 320 bhp and an incredible 479lb ft of torque, and wafts around beautifully.
