Possibly a touch off topic but take a look at this website: http://www.asmotorsport.co.uk/

I've visited the factory on an open day (A Sunday PH run out actually) met the owner, and the cars are hand built to an amazingly high standard. (Please don't bother with kit car comments - I've posted this as I think some might find it interesting) smile

The negativity of this place is endless. Aston Martin retail sales are up 12% and they’re due to start selling the SUV which will increase sales massively (as happened with Rolls Royce) but they only made £100m profit so they’re clearly doomed?
Which company made £100m profit?

Aston in the current financial year?

Now expecting £130-140m earnings (before interest & tax), having issued a profit warning a few days ago.
Yes, retail sales are up. But wholesales and margins are down and expenses are up.
They've received enough DBX orders to access £100m of additional debt, which is good, but it's at 15%, which is bad.
If you mean Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd which I believe is the main manufacturing company, they made £45,897,000 pre tax profit in FY ended 31/12/18

If you mean Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings PLC which is the ultimate holding company, they made £62,700,000 pre tax LOSS in FY ended 31/12/18

Aston should be applauded for this. As should McLaren for the Elva and Ferrari for the SP1/2. These are the sort of cars that made people fall in love with cars in the first place....Aston Martin DBR1, Jaguar C-Type, Ferrari 860 Monza, Porsche 550 Spyder... the list of sexy 50's sports cars is adundant and the glamour and prestige is invaluable for a marque.

The problem now is values and that even owners who are enthusiasts, rather than investors, don't want to drive these cars because of how the market will react to residules should they ever come to sell them.

There are less and less places to drive any enjoy these cars nowadays too. You like the thought of turning up to Casino Square in a open top sports cars, but when you return to find your bonnet and possibly cabin caked in a layer of spittal, it rather takes the shine off it, so to speak. Nobody has respect for others anymore and cannot just let them enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Well done to AM for having the vision and keeping the dream alive. Sadly, we'll never see the likes of these cars on the roads outside of shows or events becuase of the hateful swines we share this world with. soapbox

There was a time when Astons were so achingly sexy that my heart would skip a beat just seeing one in the flesh.

To me, the latest models have lost that unique visual beauty and are now just pleasant looking sports cars with some slightly fussy design details.
Out of interest which cars were the ones that would make your heart skip a beat?
In the context of the day, it was the V8 Vantage, especially in Volante form, from the 80s that I wanted more than anything. Would still like one today if the prices were sensible (clearly others agree with me). I also have a very soft spot for the last DBS.
Interesting! So AM haven't been on the right track for a long time for you then, and more than just the latest models perhaps?
I lost the lust from the time the Rapide was launched.

Fair enough. For me the DB7 is a lower point - although they've grown on me a bit in recent years.

Our design philosophy at McLaren embraces the natural features of the finest leather in the UK through its subtle grain variations, giving each car its own unique character. This is echoed in this @OnePlus concept device which integrates glass and leather, using the same luxury trim specially tailored for McLaren’s supercars in the iconic Papaya Spark.

:wtf:

These companies appear to have disappeared up their own backsides!

Yep...

Interior of my Vantage is part plastic part metal part cow. TVR same... nice places to be but if you really want that ‘special’ interior then put it in your gaff, cars are for driving. In my overly subjective opinion..... smile
