Are standard cars actually going to appeal to the "Playstation generation" given a large part of the game was about tuning?
I count myself as one of this generation, and the first thing I did when I got the cars I idolized in the games I did exactly what I did in those games, start modifying them.
A standard Tommi 6 would get cained in most events needing a iB license or higher anyway.
I think the people picking up these standard cars are buying them as an investment above all else. Those who want to relive their games will probably be looking at ones with a Stage 4 Turbo kit.
To sound like an utter loser for a second...I count myself as one of this generation, and the first thing I did when I got the cars I idolized in the games I did exactly what I did in those games, start modifying them.

In Gran Turismo, i had many cars in my 'garage' that i didn't race. I bought 'twins' so i could race one and keep another for 'nice'. And yet somehow, i'm not a virgin.
Everyone has a modified Evo; to be different is to have a completely stock one. You also get to nerd out on the original details and appreciate the history more.

From one of the jap shows this year:
Question for those in the know; Was it only red TME's that came from the factory with orange indicators? Never seen any of the other colours with them. Would absolutely recommend a 5/6. Any version you can get, RS, GSR or TME (there are few practical differences). Amazing cars and fully regret selling mine.
