Pickup trucks as daily drivers...
Discussion
Well, that went all over the place! I wasn't sure about pickups in the UK since I hadn't seen many pics of them. Looks like there's some cool ones over there too! As far as the earlier comment about fast trucks, I know of numerous light weight trucks with killer suspension, sticky tires and TWIN turbo LS engines making well over 800hp! The only way they'd dance with a 911 is if they rode the brakes...
This isn't my daily, but it is my Land Rover Defender 90 pickup. Currently the old girl is tired, being a former work horse on a farm. But I've spent some good money fixing a lot of issues, but don't worry, it is a Land Rover, so there's still loads more to fix.
The end goal is to finish up with a 3.9 EFI V8 with a supercharger thrown in for good measure. Currently it has a 200TDI engine, which is okay, but I can't stand the noise it makes and, well, it isn't a V8.

My dad had an L200 for a bit, and the only redeeming feature was how hilariously tail happy it was in 2H mode in the wet. Empty roundabouts were a great laugh, and because of the long wheelbase, it was all very lazy and progressive.
Otherwise a slow, noisy, unreliable, uncomfortable POS.

if only we could get something interesting over here,
Ranger with the rs lump in it or a v6 ecoboost from the states,
or even if vw would drop their 5 banger into the amarok
Aren't all the current Amarok V6 now, in 3 different power levels?Ranger with the rs lump in it or a v6 ecoboost from the states,

The 2.5 five-pot diesel has been dumped for a 2.0 twin-turbo.
