Having a super complicated password won’t always help.
I had fraud on my credit card, the replacement one also got hammered before I even received it, or knew what the number was. Card provider admitted this can happen and that my on line account had only been accessed by myself.
I think the big data has more vulnerabilities than the strength of a user account password can protect against.

I actually live in the countryside where this sort of thing never enters my mind , Just don't need to worry about It
I am flabbergasted that so many people are scared to death of this. Horrendous things could happen to you and I hope they don't but this is not one of them
I'm guessing most of you are younger than me I think should all try to enjoy life a bit more
You might consider the inconvenience of having your details stolen inconsequential, and that's fine.
But why denigrate others who might have or actually have experienced it?
You pointed out that customers are the ones who give these companies their data in the first place.
But that's only because they want it for reasons over & above the obvious need, and to a certain degree, one has to exist in this modern world.
We can't all live in the countrysnide.
A few weeks back, I tried to ask a question of a national chain of opteromorists, using their online form.
They wanted:

Address
DOB
Just for asking a casual question.
