I may have broke my own rule on age & for the first time ever i fancy a car below budget, but this appeals.

Thanks for the concern but the £45k is self imposed & only a small % of the pot. Not willing to splash out £100K+ on a car just because I can is why I can retire young.
I would live an Aston but my head always rules over heart.
Aston is a solid choice. £45k ones dont drop much and even dealer services are reasonable for a V12.I would live an Aston but my head always rules over heart.

Do test drive it because if it's the Gambiocorsa paddle shift you may find like I did it was a very short test drive.http://www.derekcmowat.co.uk/used-cars/maserati-gr...
To be honest, as a bit of a left-field choice, I think one of these might make my shortlist:

Don't think you'll lose too much money on it either...

Looking at retiring at 55 & my lump sum allows me to treat myself before I become to old, I have approx. £45K to spend and fancy a 2 seater that will allow us to tour Europe in comfort, track days are not on my list. It would also be nice to be the first owner but for the right car I could go to 2/3 year old.
When looking I was amazed at the little choice I had. it was basically a Caymen/Boxster or F type.
Don't get me wrong I always though the Porsche was going to be my choice (I have had 3 used versions)but the lack of choice did surprise me.
Am I missing anything.

My idea for mine (as long as there's something left) is to do Route 66 in total, end to end. Car choice would probably be a modern v8 mustang.
Classics for touring Europe is difficult, I would love to take mine, but no aircon means it's a bit of a none starter these days.
A 997 carrera 2 would tick all my boxes, fast, comfortable, fun with just enough room to be usable but small enough to fit anywhere and high enough to fit over anything and with a large enough fuel tank to get anywhere.
Obvious choice I know, but they have always done the sports tourer very well.

Buy this - well, not this one because I'm not selling! But seriously - the XKR is the best option for your budget, super car looks and spacious GT criteria.
Two people could genuinely tour Europe in comfort and your budget would get you a very high spec late model with a fantastic Jaguar warranty.
Little bit over budget but I doubt I could stop myself in your position:

Hmm, I always liked the Z3. But this one looks very dated somehow :/.http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...
