Not one, not two, not three, but four brand-new Ford RS200s. All gorgeous, especially the red one. More than 80,000 road miles in four years. Sigh .....

My 200SX that I had when I was 22, I had no money, spunked everything I had on buying it/fixing it/modifying it and running it then lost a fortune when I sold it
I loved it though, it almost killed me a lot but I remember the good times over all the very bad (and expensive) times!
Always liked those, they do appear to be rather troublesome.I loved it though, it almost killed me a lot but I remember the good times over all the very bad (and expensive) times!
Currently looking to tidy up rust and paint to sell it on. but mine didn't cost 10k Was £3750 or so 4 years ago, if I get paint and that tidied up I'll probably manage to punt it for 4-5k.
Black/Cream with Advan 3 spokes rocked my world.
This was why I was considering a 200SX - I fancy building myself one of these

1987 Peugeot 205 XS in metallic gunmetal grey.
I couldn't afford to buy and insure a GTI aged 20 so this was the next best thing. Bought it with over 100K on the clock and added a lot more mostly trouble-free miles. Not a rocket but the handling was great and 205s look great from any angle. I generously gave it to my girlfriend of the time when I bought a Mk1 Golf Cabrio to replace it. Wish I hadn't.
Fond memories of both.
Next best was a 2002 Audi A4 3.0 V6 quattro Sport. Again not overly quick but felt so right. I only owned it for 9 months then sold it when a very well cherished 2002 D2 S8 came up for sale locally. Despite being the better car on paper it didn't get under my skin the way the A4 did. The owner of the garage who services our cars snapped my hand off for the A4, had it for a few years but rarely used it. My brother now owns it.

Alittle' shocking...
Citroen Xsara Picasso.
Bought it for pennies, drove it to Europe. Marvelled at its practically and rue selling it for a Subaru.
Sometimes the memories of where you took the car, or what was going on in your life at the time, can make a cheap reliable motor one of your favourites!Citroen Xsara Picasso.

Another who regrettably sold their 200SX. Did cost a fortune from the moment I bought it though; two days after picking it up, the alternator went and Nissan quoted over £500 for a new one, which was a bit of an eye-opener. Still absolutely hilarious fun though.
Sold it to a friend, then went out and bought an Alfa Romeo GTV Cup...which I wish I'd kept hold of too. The car I sold to fund the SX, a VR6 Highline, I wish I still had too. Essentially, in an ideal world, I'd be a Jay Leno type...just with a stter/ cheaper selection of cars

That does look nice - had an early press car for a weekend - suitably impressed with it. Like the looks of the later one like yours better thoughThe DC2 was an eye opener in 1998, it was as quick as most things and was so grippy, and just bloody good fun. Loved that car. Of everything that followed the Caterham was the first recalibration of what a car can do and the Atom is a further step towards madness. The NSX was most memorable for being submerged, the fear I had seeing the engine compartment full of steam haunted me for a while!!
But I'll always have a soft spot for the DC2, even though it was of the moment and driving one since left me a bit cold.

What ?? How did this happen ? Did you work for ford ? The Benson & Hedges Concours at Beamish Museum - where you were on "microphone duty" providing commentary.
I don't normally like red cars, but it suited the RS - pity they weren't all painted that colour!
Or am I thinking of the wrong person?

It's a good looking conversion, quite a rare skill to pull off. http://www.speedhunters.com/2015/07/the-boss-v2-ro...
