Watching that Lotus brings back the memory of the trackday I did at Snetterton with my mate in his P1. I learnt a valuable lesson that day about not letting red mist get to you.........
It was raining and there was a lotus following me and I thought he'll never keep up as I powered down Revett Straight. I did think it was a bit strange as he kept up and got even closer under the brakes... (I know the weight was an advantage here) as we went around Corams he was getting a little closer and eventually I started to drift slowly sideways.... Steering into it I held it for a while until it went all Pete Tong and we (My mate was beside me) hit the grass on the inside of the turn at about 60-70mph. We travelled for quite a few metres before the offside wheels dug in and the car preceeded to raise its nearside wheels about 3-4ft off the ground.......
I learnt quite a lot that day. The main one is, my mate is very trusting, he let me drive it in the very next session because he said if I didn't I won't want to do it again.....
Oh, and don't try and race a 300BHP Lotus with wets on...........
AG
PS Sorry for getting slightly off topic, thought you might enjoy it....

Will we ever get a superbike on the track?
They've done it, chap.Porsche 993 vs R1.
Porsche won.
Lovely ultima. But for the money you spent on those (amazing) wheels, you could have got some twenny foh spinnaz! What a missed opportunity.

After establishing that I am understandably the first person apart from Pete to have ever driven the car I squeeze myself ungracefully into the cockpit.
Not strictly true that - hasn't a certain Mr. Edwards put in a few laps? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjXQZ87gQGgand better http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVZ98ZGltuY

But never on the road.
I've wanted one of these since I was about 15 or so, it was listed in the wheels magazine bit at the back of the mag, with all the manufacturers and RRP. Tried to chase up more of it and found some stuff in a unique cars mag. (I think.) Ever since then, wanted one. I wanted one with a triple rotor twin turbo like a poor mans 727B equivelant, gold classic 3 piece mesh rim of some sort with gold brake calipers and perforated leather seats, in lustrous metallic green.
For a long time my dream car. When the other kids reckoned the F50, Diablo and Porsche turbo where hot stuff, I wanted this.
Still do now that I saw this. Only now, I'd love to find a way to bolt two renesis motors together to do the 727 thing properly. I'd have to get BP to sponsor the fuel use even with the price drop but oh the noise.

If anyone fancies building an Ultima I can sell you a pretty good motor!
I have a 1995 Pontiac WSR (Pro Am Pace Car - 6spd manual, LSD etc etc) - had it for ages and spent a fortune on it - the bodywork is showing its age and I never seem to have time for it these days. I had considered splitting it myself and using the engine but never get the time space etc - this would be a good project engine.
Started as an GM - LT1 5.7 litre V8, then following a supercharger 'incident' which melted a piston or 8 it got one hell of a rebuild.
Stroked and bored for 6.3 litres with fully balanced internals, low comp pistons, carillo rods. Head work was done by Dave Endrigo in New York who improved flow from around 650cfm to over 14 cfm. Included ported and polished intake manifolds.
Supercharged, high volume oil and fuel pumps, electric water pumps, bent tube headers, Accel 50lb injectors, - lots of other stuff.
Turned a genuine 530bhp at the rear wheels and since then I have changed the Supercharger pulleys and fuelling - probably around 600 bhp at the wheels.
Sounds awesome, runs well - I just dont want to see it going to waste - so if any sensible offers come along I will throw in the car that goes round it for free!
