The real appeal of the likes of 400/412/456/612 is that you are getting a modern Ferrari at its most exclusive and elegantly understated. Also these cars were bought new by Ferrari's richest customers- and one can enter that rarified billionaire world for top spec Mondeo money.
Although you will need the cost of a top spec Mondeo to run it!(oh come on you can't have everything)

I can no longer see it on the BCA site. It was there this am but has gone - so dont know if that means it has been through auction or was pulled?

My contact at BCA tells me that it made £15,000 on the hammer smile

Glad I didnt go as I am sure I would have gone for it. Although the pics on BCAs site put me off a little ie very shiny tyres but paint didnt look so gleaming.

See, that's about £16,500 with fees. By the time you've fixed anything that's faulty and sorted that interior and bodywork, this one at £25k starts to look more inviting

There was one for sale at the Brightwells auction on Wednesday. In better condition but the interior would not of been to everyones taste. Failed to make its reserve. Bidding stopped at £19k.

...and here is where it has been residing - http://www.hagleycar.com/cars/car662.html

I guess the market is pretty poor just now. The Chris Evans' one going through the ring at Coys has been up "privately" for sale as well.

Lovely cars.

...and this appears to be the £15k BCA example?

Sames miles, colour combo and seat wear? Nice £10k profit if he pulls it off!

If it is the car from BCA, you are correct and there was no real documentation with it (or at least there wasnt when I looked at the car prior to the sale)

Who knows maybe the "new" service book is legit and the person who bought the car was able to get copies of the known history . . . . . . .

You can see the seat bolster wear on the drivers seat too. you would have thought it would have used some shoe polish on it.

how would you be able to make a statement such as this, from a car auction.

Fully serviced with over 12 stamps in the book
63000 genuine with no expense spared miles
Fully documented history and always done on time with no regard to cost

I'd wouldn’t want to comment on a public forum, but suffice to say that only a fool would buy a car like this without it being inspected by a specialist and that’s when any anomalies tend to get found out . . . . . . . if there was a quick £10k in it, I would have bid on it wink

After 4 years and 14K miles I'm still thrilled by my 456. It's been over the Alps to Tuscany and taken our boys to swimming lessons. It's had a 2K bits and belts service and 500 quid annual services. If you've got kids, a 550 or a 575 plus childcare costs just doesn't add up. You only live once, so why not share that gorgeous V12 with the children?

That's a cracking first post and I'm with you on the experience, ran a Thema 8.32 for a little while as a family car.

Fantastic. Got a 1 year old and thinking of doing the same thing. Bit picky though, want TdF blue, tan, manual!!! Having had a TVR, then a 355 the fear that running these cars costs thousands each year just isn't true. Yes a major service can be £1500 but the annuals aren't anymore than a BMW or Mercedes service.
