i mean, if your only requirements are that it has 4 wheels and goes, then i guess they are ok...but i would put my shed money elsewhere for better VFM and driving experience.
They seem to have gone extinct very quickly, whereas the Mk1 Focus is still a common sight. My only personal experience of one was my dad, who is a serial purchaser of dross, snapped his cambelt. It's no wonder GM can make almost exclusively dogst cars when it's a sideline to their employee pension operation though.

Just for anyone who still cares... this shed is sat on my drive right now...

Managed to sort the constant fan... it was the AC fan, I just removed it. Also bought it from a garage not long after the add was posted, and got a new tyre thrown into the price.

I doubt they're up there with the Focus but I think they're OK to drive. I've had at least two memorable journeys in them, three if we include the Zafira. It's an OK car, the Coupe styling is pleasant enough and it's better than my shed, I'd drive it. I've heard stuff about the 2.2 and camchain issues and possibly that was still an issue when that engine was in the Alfa Brera.

My the wife had a 2.2 coupe in that distinctive orange as a company car. The chain snapped at 20k miles. She had a 2.0 turbo convertible after that, which was forever having problems. The dealers were st as well.

Hi there,
I bought this car from brand new and I'm responsible for putting on the irmscher body kit I had imported from Germany.
Loved this car to bits.
Does any one know who has it now as I'd like to buy it back to restore it

Thought this looked a bit cheap, then realised it was a five year old thread bump!

How can these be worth more now.

It's quite a good looker with its Bertone bodywork and a good standard of finish and quality probably above a Focus. The Irmscher extras are fine unless the car has also been modified further. By now many will have gravitated down the automotive food chain
It would be interesting to see an unmolested example in a good colour. Just re-read the entire thread. The preponderance of negative comments about owners simply underlines the fact that a nice example in a totally unmolested state is still an interesting car and could appreciate in value.Any faintly sporty car of this era is likely to have been run hard but I guess there are still a few original examples around. There may be a few which were the wife's car in affluent households, who just went for this variant because it was posher.
