And yet UK airports are some of the scummiest places that exist. Chewing gum on the carpets, rip off parking, and disgusting loos The first impression of the UK when you arrive is not great. It’s all to do with profits, not improving the experience.

How much profit do these carparks make?
Well MAG Development Group EBITDA was £359m in 2018, 22% of total revenue was derived from parking.
And what is their profit from that?
The total group turnover was 820m or something in 2018 with an ebitda of £359. 22% of the revenue (180m or so) was derived from parking. I don’t know what you do for a living but it doesn’t take a genius to work out that implementing higher parking fees adds to higher revenues and profits. There is no specific data for profits from parking. It’s a business and they wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t profitable, which is why they got rid of the loss making Bournemouth airport. If it’s not making money they’re not interested in it.
Well obviously any business wants to make a profit, otherwise why bother. You said that the parking charges were a rip off, but you need to know the profit margin before you can say if it is or isnt?

Its theft and it makes stuff more expensive for everyone else.
No it doesn't. It's like the old argument about piracy. The video game industry has all but eliminated "theft" on consoles. The result was price rises. How can not paying to simply pull over in a car be considered "theft" either.
You are using a space that someone paying could use.
