Well, modern EV makes more noise than most post-2010 cars.

The whining EV purr at least spreads some awareness amongst the pedastrians of which most lack environmental awareness and just walk and cross roads like there is no tomorrow.

Atkinson cycle cars tuff tuff around town in umpteenth gear and in utter silence.I think that is a modern peril we can do without.

I find it funny to notice these pedestrians who actually feel the dark brown Twin Spark hum in their bellies, and look up to speed up or hold their feet.

And yes, that adds to the reasons why we keep the 2006 Alfa.
Michelin seem to disagree with you.

"Are electric cars quieter than petrol cars? An electric vehicle, by its very nature, doesn’t have an engine. Instead, it has a motor system powered by a battery. Unlike thermodynamics, electromagnetics doesn’t result in noise emissions. As a result, the motor is almost totally silent.

Perhaps even too silent! Electric vehicles are much quieter than petrol cars. At low speeds (below 30 km/h) they are so much quieter that ‒ to reduce the risk of accidents for pedestrians ‒ the EU has introduced a regulation for electric vehicles, imposing a minimum of 56 decibels at low speeds.

This is the equivalent of the noise a dishwasher makes, an office computer or the quiet buzz of a near-empty restaurant. On average, combustion engine cars are closer to 65 decibels, which is the equivalent of a busy classroom."

From here: https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/advice/ev-guide/ca...

and here: https://www.whatcar.com/advice/owning/do-electric-...

and here: https://www.fastcompany.com/90774779/heres-what-sc...

So EV noise at low speed is mandated by regulation.

I know someone who sold their 911S for a Taycan Turbo, 6 months later they sold it and got another 911S.
I'm not sure what that tells you other than they bought the wrong car! I think the Taycan is absolutely brilliant and love mine but if the 911's 2 and 2 half seats and 2 doors works for you I don't know why you'd even contemplate a Taycan... it's good but it's not as good as a 911.

Just for clarification, are we allowed to compare the Tesla against ICE cars? Are we allowed to value anything other than straight line speed? If so, it shows how bad the handling etc is on the Tesla when it needed track tyres to get a lap which is just a few seconds quicker than a BMW M3 on perfectly fine road legal tyres with just HALF of the power. Considering how fast the Tesla is in a straight line that's pretty shoddy IMO.
Okay, so first you wanted to have a hypocritical discussion comparing a race car against a road car. And in failing that, you now want to have another go, with an M3, which you state yourself is slower. Err, okay.

But if you really want to compare the M3 with a Tesla product, here is a STANDARD Tesla model 3 performance, with road tyres, etc, against an M3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSRWKxytW40

The m3 is smashed.

Now the "big brother" Tesla is faster than the Model 3 performance, and you want to spout some more rubbish? You're beginning to look very, very foolish.

What I took from the video is if most of your driving is on the road the Tesla wins hands down. If you live for track days then the M3 is a bit more rewarding.

Personally i'd have the Tesla for the road and a proper lightweight track car if i was still into track days.

The best bit about the EV is by the time it matters mid 2030s they will be at least on par weight wise if not a bit lighter. Being much quieter of course the noise restrictions of many tracks will be much less of an issue.

Having had both they are incomparable. One is a 4 seater with decent boot the other is a very accomplished sports car.
It is not realistic to try and drive the 911 with 4 adults.

Why anyone would choose one over the other is unfathomable. The Taycan especially the Turissmo is a completely practicable family car.
