According to my MoT tester, SRS lamp illuminated does not automatically result in a fail. The reason for this is that on some cars (Peugeots?) disabling the passenger airbag to allow an infant to be carried in the front seat causes the SRS lamp to illuminate. Hence the only definite ground for failure is if the SRS light does not illuminate when the ignition is switched on. Tester can however fail the vehicle if he believes the light is on because of a fault.

Yes that's understandable, but the current special notice states that the SRS Lamp inoperative has been deleted as a reason for refusal of an MOT certificate... So they can't fail it for a non illuminating SRS lamp it seems
