Just bought an M135i because Chris Harris said so...

Who cares about the noise? Having had a Z4M, a 335i, and now M135i in Estoril blue, technology moves on and this car is seriously fast and value for money. OK you have to pay £35K+ for best spec but what else gives you the thrill of a straight six rear wheel drive and 4.5 secs to 60mph for peanuts. It rivals any other hatches and is best value for money. Also not ugly compared with other hatches. There is some crap spoken by M purists who drive around in £5K recycled 10 year old blown out motors

There is nothing fake about the slightly naughty sounds the retro fit M performance Exhaust makes on my car! Finishes off the car (well almost, until I buy a LSD)
No drone or drawbacks on the motorway either.
How would you compare the sound with stock? Do you get a bit more of a deeper burble when bimbling round town?No drone or drawbacks on the motorway either.
Is it easy to return to stock?
I thought the standard exhaust was a bit limp to be honest. It is noticeably louder at all times. Think stock AMG exhaust plus a little in volume.
It retains the exhaust flap. Put it into sport or sport plus and you get lots of crackling on the over run. The changes when you have an auto also have a louder and more satisfying thump and pop, but not like the comedy one of the A45 AMG.
To fit the box, (its just an expensive rear box) you have to cut the rear box off and fit a sleeve on that comes supplied with the new exhaust.
So you could re fit the old one by using the same sleeve.
It's expensive, but perfectly judged in my book, and no warranty worries.
Oh, and yes, sounds lovely when going slowly around town, deep and tuneful. Also, engage sport and it gets louder, fun around narrow streets even at low speed.

This is how you make the M135i sound perfect:

Oh bugger, suppose I had better own up as well...
I watched the Vid, read all the threads, read various reports, looked at all the specs... Browsed all the usual websites...
Bugger that, way out of my league
Until last week, after stumbling across a 150 mile example, with a few extras (I do not do extras as a rule )
Shuffled the figures, came to a reasonable deal, and it is now sitting at my front door, my first "real" performance car, can I call it that?
The car just seems to fit me, fair enough, I really should be driving a generic diesel VAG, but I could not bring myself to do it, it would get lost in the works car park, when I am there.
Just taking my time getting used to it now

It's a great car, that is generally agreed here. On the subject of sound...if it's an accurate reproduction and pleases/convinces the occupants ears then it's a success. Any further satisfaction might be derived from knowing that others can hear it outside the car. Not everyone needs that and others like to share!
