Spray painting on a driveway?
Discussion
One of my neighbours, came home a couple of weeks ago with some scraping damage to the side of her car. Quite deep and involving some panel distortion around the rear wing area
I got home from work tonight (6:30) and one the "paintless dent removal" guys was working on it (on the driveway). He must have already been there some time, as he'd already rubbed down the affected area and was in the process of sanding down some filler (Oh, the irony of "paintless")
With some Infra Red lights and a hair dryer type of thing, over the next couple of hours, he primed and sprayed the affected panel and finally lacquered it in the dusk/semi-darkness at around 9:15
Paint spraying on a driveway?
With cars and pedestrians wondering by?
In the semi-darkness?
He finally left at around 9:30.
Would you stand for this?
I hope for my neighbours sake it was a freebie....

They dont.
Had a scrape on the rear bumper of my car and he came to do the job.
I had to go to work, however, the wife was in.
Couple of house later he was 'done'.
I came home that evening and the finishes was dreadful.
Were he sanded he didnt bother to wipe off the dust from the rest of the bumper and managed to lacquer it on.
Needless to say, he returned a few days later to put it right.
Being honest, it looks ok, but not in strong sunlight.
To do a proper job, the whole bumper (in my case) needs prepping and respraying.
On a side note, there are many variations of the manufacturers 'silver' (for eg).
A good sprayer will find the right alternative to match.

Hmm.... maybe okay, don't think I'd want it done during the evening myself; but with heat lamps it's less likely to get condensation on it I guess - no accounting for dust and insects however.
Having completed one or two back garden resprays, and a dusty garage front bumper respray myself... I'd get a proper paint shop to do it. Fine for an old tractor/snotter/mower/Cavalier/Land Rover, but I seldom managed anything remotely professional, and always ended up with at least one insect doing a death crawl over the fresh paint. Didn't matter on the vehicles at the time, would do on the current fleet however.
