Noble M12 - Insurance

(Insurance quotes provided by PH partner Adrian Flux)

These quotes are for a 2003 Noble M12 GTO, valued at £25000 and fitted with a Thatcham approved alarm/immobiliser.

All driver examples based on no accidents, maximum NCB, 1 minor speeding conviction, and having owned the car for over 12 months with comprehensive cover. To include a £500 excess in all cases.

Example 1) 30 year old banker from London:
3000 miles per annum - £850.00
7500 miles per annum - £1000.00
Unlimited miles per annum - £1200

Example 2) 37 year old factory owner from Peterborough:
3000 miles per annum - £600.00
7500 miles per annum - £750.00
Unlimited miles per annum - £850.00

Example 3) 55 year old property developer from Bristol:
3000 miles per annum - £500.00
7500 miles per annum - £600.00
Unlimited miles per annum - £700.00

Model variance:
For an equivalent M400 model you would be looking at an approximate increase in premium of 15%.

Other Factors:
The age and value of the car would also have some bearing on the insurance quote. For example if the car was slightly older or worth slightly less the above premiums would probably reduce a little, likewise if the car was newer or worth more the premiums would increase.

Other factors are the obvious ones when it comes to insuring these types of cars. Wherever possible keep the mileage down, and preferably keep them in a garage overnight. Having an aftermarket tracking device is also a big help, and relevant driving experience is a massive advantage. If you can show that you have a history of claim free driving in high performance saloons/sports cars, it will be far easier to obtain competitive premiums.

Why are the insurance quotes for someone "who has owned the car for over 12 months"?

Surely for anyone viewing a buying guide, this will be unlikely.

ETA: Sorry mods, I seem to have buggered up the title of the article.

Me 32, working in the private sector.

£23,418 with £2500 excess.

Why do the rich pay less?

Those examples are surely completely pointless. Every time it comes to getting a quote, IME its a lottery.

As per the first post, what is the point of quoting insurance for someone who has owned the car for 12 months - surely entirely irrelevant to anyone reading a buyers guide as they've already done the buying bit

As a punter, all I'm interested in is how wallet bendingly expensive the insurance is likely to be?

21 with 3 years NCB.

The 2.5 GTO was £950, the 3.0 GTO 3R which I've now bought is £1050.

Insured at the weekend. Pretty good IMO.

So... if you've had experience of driving and owning high powered cars before, but have not crashed any, your premium will go down?

This is the most exciting piece of research I've heard all year! Oh no, it it isn't.

Something far more useful would be approximate prices for someone owning a high powered car for the FIRST time, as others have already said.

I'm intrigued.

Are factory owners from Peterborough really a statistically significant percentage of the population?
