McLaren F1 in the Alps: Time For Tea?

So the P1 will be a lot quicker, but who cares when the F1 sounds like this?

In all honesty, this story doesn't need much more than the video description to sell it: 'Paul Stewart guns a McLaren F1 up some Alps. Sensational!'.

With the P1's ridiculous performance now confirmed, we thought a revisit of McLaren's last hypercar was in order. This video was filmed by our colleagues at Classic and Sports Car nearly three years ago; shamefully we haven't featured it previously, so apologies guys!

But yes, an F1 champion's son, the Swiss Alps and a 627hp V12; it's quite a vid. Though we shouldn't condone such a thing, it does sound pretty epic just snagging the limiter on the first gear change. Then there's three minutes of glorious induction howl and beautiful scenery, filmed from right back behind the driver in the F1's passenger seat.

One word of warning though; some rather NSFW language is used right at the end as reverse proves rather recalcitrant. Hearing the reality of driving an older supercar is quite amusing, but perhaps not one to broadcast too loudly!

Just never been a fan of the F1, the only thing I like about it is the fact that it has a BMW V12.

That's exactly what I thought! I've just been in my M3 for a blast and on the throttle + overrun the sound is pretty similar from inside the car.

It reminds me of Grindelwald in whatever version of Gran Turismo I was playing 13 years ago.

Some awful driving. Was almost painful to watch. Love the roads though and the sound of that thing (when driven properly) is amazing.

Is the speedo functioning? I can see the rev counter clearly enough but if the speedo is the right hand dial, it isn't doing anything..

Is that a Patek Philippe 5970p watch Paul Stewart is wearing as well? Looks like it. So that's about the cost of a decent LHD 458 coupe on the wrist!

Looks like a 5004 to me. If so, then that's another McLaren F1 on his wrist!

Sounded like a bag of hammers apart form the odd trip up the rev range, brakes sounded like an old bus, not a great showcase for the F1 !
