So I normall give my cars a quick wash every week or so, taking 5-10mins, quick bucket of water and mitt, job done,me clean and dry no problems. Been washing my camper now by hand, but the bugger is so much bigger it takes longer and even at 6ft 5in I can't reach the top of the front window let alone the roof and get soaking wet doing it. Makes me not want to keep it clean as I have always done.

SO I was thinking of either running it through a car wash machine, for £2 means I could do it every couple of weeks when I fill it up. Wondering if it is ok to put a van through a car wash? (lwb Vivaro) anyone done it? bonus is it does the roof at the same time.

If not and carry on hand washing, any brush attachments for a hose ( not jet wash) that allow a soap to be dispensed at the same time or controlled as you wash? means I can wet, wash and rinse and stay dry whilst doing and reach that bit on the windscreen.

Well I posted this last time I washed her but no responses. About to get cold and wet washing her again so thought I would give it a bump.

Any thoughts or tips?

Take it to the local Polish Polish and they'll do it.

It'll cost £5-10+ depending on where you live.

Polish Polish?
They are Polish people from Poland who polish cars using polish.

I have 2011 transporter, low roof swb and always use driver through car wash. Just have to fold the mirrors to fit.

Cheaper and better than hand washes

I have a lwb Vivaro and just take it to shell drive through wash once a week, I'll only pay for the base wash as the more expensive ones cover your windscreen and windows in wax, they do a pretty good job, then once every 3 months I give it a proper wash at home, I easily have the cleanest van in the fleet.

I use a hose.

And a broom.

Then the hose again.

Done.

Cheers guys. So the Vivaro will fit in a wash, great news. Just done her by hand and this is her nice and shiny

As for the guys suggesting the Polish Polish, great idea but I am more a wash it my self kind of guy. Happy to spunk a couple hundred quid on a night out with the boys but it sticks in my throat to pay a tenner to wash the van knowing I can do it myself. Madness but I can't help it.

Reckon I will wash it in the machine (local one is £2 with specials running at a £1 every now and then), and hand wash her properly (inside the door bits etc) every now and then.

Cheers

Just do it by hand! Just got in from cleaning my Hi-Ace.

Got most of the crud off with the pressure washer, really concentrated under the arches and sills, they were caked with mud and grime!

I wash it probably twice a month, with decent shampoo and the dirt flies off.

well I must admit I took my daily to a Polish Polish this afternoon before her MOT - I paid £6 and they spent a good 40 mins cleaning it, then they dried - it looks brand new. No idea what kind of chemicals and acid they use, but they always have a queue thumbup

however... then I noticed my front tyre was abit low, set psi right put the inflator on my valve and it got fking stuck!!! queue a few seconds where I thought my tyre would go bang and 2 people pulling on it - so that's the first and last time I use a forecourt inflator.
