Over filled oil. To drain or not to drain?
Discussion
The beastly 2005 Chevrolet Lacetti star in a reasonably priced car has had the oil overfilled by some idiot.........me.
I have included a pic of the dipstick, no not me and the oil reaches to the bottom of the 'A' on the MAX bit.
Should I drain it a bit or just leave it?

Leave it.
.... unless you're planning some circuit racing or driving up very steep hills, either of which may cause the crank to dip into the oil in the sump - which is a bad thing. It can cause a lot of frothing of the oil, and air is not a very good lubricant.
I've got a trip to Scotland from Shropshire tomorrow so just checking. .... unless you're planning some circuit racing or driving up very steep hills, either of which may cause the crank to dip into the oil in the sump - which is a bad thing. I just don't fancy trying to drain a few drops from the sump only to shear it off or find it seized etc.

That's quite a good journey, if you drive with a very very heavy foot, you may be able to burn it all off :PI just don't fancy trying to drain a few drops from the sump only to shear it off or find it seized etc.
