The beastly 2005 Chevrolet Lacetti star in a reasonably priced car has had the oil overfilled by some idiot.........me.

I have included a pic of the dipstick, no not me and the oil reaches to the bottom of the 'A' on the MAX bit.

Should I drain it a bit or just leave it?

That doesn't look like too much extra at all! I've seen people put far more in without problem.
It's when you see that the rocker cover is full you need to worry! smile

If the min to max is a litre, then maybe you've gone 150ml too far? I'd chance it and let it burn off.

Leave it.

.... unless you're planning some circuit racing or driving up very steep hills, either of which may cause the crank to dip into the oil in the sump - which is a bad thing. It can cause a lot of frothing of the oil, and air is not a very good lubricant.

Draining off a small amount isn't easy, you'll end up losing too much, putting too much in again

ad infinitum.....biggrin

In other words another vote for leave alone.

I've got a trip to Scotland from Shropshire tomorrow so just checking.

I just don't fancy trying to drain a few drops from the sump only to shear it off or find it seized etc.

It'll be fine, I've clumsily filled the car up to that level before.

That's quite a good journey, if you drive with a very very heavy foot, you may be able to burn it all off :P

Shropshire to Scotland in a Lacetti? Hopefully it breaks down early letting you take a better form of transport.

Expect a bit of blue smoke, but I doubt the engine of a Lacetti is built to tight enough tolerances for a little bit of oil like that to kill it.

The issues come when the engine is filled with oil.
