Timeless future classic ? Gt car
Discussion
So been thinking about adding a gt to the mini fleet, particularly like cars that age well as I tend to keep my cars a while been thinking about
Granturismo MC shift
Bentley GTC (speed look)
Have thought about and discounted DB9 volante (too cramped)
Ideally use it for roadtrips to scotland, south of france and Ireland etc once or twice a year
Which do people think will age more gracefully, alternatives welcome ideally 2+2 with a boot and not too hardcore as want to travel in comfort
Had a granturismo 4.2 at launch and loved it, had 9 x 911's currently have a 993 cab, don't want another one and have a 355 spider which is not comfortable for long trips ( but I cant sell as its my pride and joy !!) Also had a 640d m sport which was great but souless.

Modern Maserati's have a tendency to depreciate to sub-£10k area, while costing all the while. The MC Shift gearbox will feel very antiquated in a few years, once the current generations of ZF and dual-clutch work their way down the cost market. But it's still a classy machine at the end of the day, if you like the looks that'd be the choice imo.
GTC has potential to throw some rather expensive bills as it ages, with all its electrical complexity, and there's lots of them about = unlikely to age well imo, especially with its footballer image.
Shame the DB9 didn't make the list, that's the finer of the selection imo, that V12 goes a long way!

Looks-wise, I think the Maser will stand the test of time better than the Bentley. In terms of feeling like old technology, I guess the importance of that will be determined by how long you are looking to keep it - if your intention is to hang on until it becomes an actual classic then it won't really be an issue because the next-gen technology will feel pretty dated by then too!
The other 2+2 that springs to mind is the Jag XKR; the X150 has evolved from a great looking car to a real stunner with the latest facelift IMO and the 5ltr V8 sounds amazing. However, as per the point made above about Masers dipping sub-£10k, there are plenty of X100 XKRs to be had for that kind of money too...will the X150 be any different?

like 996 Porsches, I can't imagine bentleys of the last 6 years will do anything other than lose value, and look unexclusive. There's a lot of them around, they're expensive to run, and they don't offer high end thrills (just like a default 911, but unlike, say, a ferrari). They may be a future classic, but I think they have further to go 'down' before they start to climb, compared to their contemporaries.
