I've had my alloy wheels refurbed because they were starting to show signs of corrosion from around the centre cap

The car's been returned to me and the finish doesn't look to be all that great - should the finish be pretty much perfect or am I expecting too much

Will try and get a pic up when I work out how to

The wheels are Merc amg sport from around 2010

In my experience they should be as good as new.

I usually use http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/

and have never been disappointed. They are more expensive but the results are worth it.

These guys get glowing reports. They also offer a wheel exchange service so you're not without your car while they are refurbing your own set

I haven't paid for it, it was done via Mercedes as the car was sold used approved with corroded wheels

If they should be in near perfect condition, well, they are far from it. Actually considering the service I've had from them this could be the final straw

Another vote for Pristine: they refinished my Saab 9.3s to perfection - and they lasted too.

New (to me) Range Rover wheels going to them over winter.

Is it even possible to repair a diamond cut alloy without taking the tyre off which I don't believe they did

I've had plenty of wheels refurbed over the years and found that results can vary dramatically and generally you get what you pay for.

A couple of examples of the best ones I've had done...

...Powder coated...

...And painted...

I have had 2 of the TVR alloys refurbed and one of the 20" Jag alloys done . In both cases they came back as good as new and a perfect colour match to the original finish.

Note I say 'good as new' not 'nearly as good' or 'not bad'. They were perfect. I paid ~£70 each for the TVR wheels but they were also a bit egg shaped and that included straightening them plus removing some kerb damage.

As mentioned earlier I haven't paid for this to be done - on one of them, to me, it looks like they've been sanded down and in some areas not even painted back up it's that bad

This whole Mercedes experience has put me off the brand for life. Anyone wanna buy a C350?
Going cheap!
