RE: Pure Driving Experiences: Final drive

As the climax to Dunlop's sponsored series of 'Pure Driving Experience' videos we asked you to vote on a location to which Steve Sutcliffe and the Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series could be sent that best expressed the stated aim of these videos.

The votes have been counted and the final Dunlop vid is here - but where did you send Steve Sutcliffe?
To refresh your memory the choices were the Route Napoleon in France, Longcross handling track in Surrey or the high-speed bowl at Millbrook, all of which would have demonstrated different attributes of the Black.
Well, the votes have been counted, the keys to the Mercedes handed to Mr Sutcliffe and the following video is the result.

No ill will to Dunlop or Mr Sutcliffe, but I can't see what they got out of these vids.
Always nice to see a car of the C63 Black's calibre being punted about but I'm not left wanting to watch the video again (as I often am with the Chris Harris/Neil Carey DRIVE videos), or any more (or less) likely to buy Dunlop next time.
If the series episodes were entertaining and engaging I'd say 'who cares', but as they were neither I'm just left feeling...well, meh.

Surely "C63 Black Series" people interested "C63 Black Series" in the video will "C63 Black Series" not need reminding "C63 Black Series" constantly that he's "C63 Black Series" driving a C63 Black Series?

I don't know, we're sat here chatting about them. I appreciate it hasn't made you want some, but advertising works by getting into your head, which it seems to have done. As far as getting the brand talked about amongst enthusiasts goes, this has been an effective and low budget way of doing it, I'd expect.Could not get it to work on my PC: there was an error message about not supporting my browser (Chrome) but it did no better in the latest incarnation of MS IE; so I watched it on iPhone...
... and wished I had not bothered. Great route, great car, and a personable presenter, but really the video had very little content and managed to be repetitive despite its brevity.

I agree that in some small way my feelings towards Dunlop as a brand have probably warmed somewhat as a result of these vids as they are undoubtedly well-intentioned and aimed squarely at PHers.
Maybe they can regroup, assess what makes a good online video, hire some more competent editors etc. and try again?
I rather fear though that some marketing gurus will be looking at a spreadsheet entitled 'Pure Driving Experiences - Media Reach and Amplification Analysis.xlsx' and giving the bad news to his/her boss.

Stay in your lane. Having witnessed a head on crash because the douchebag coming the other way was having a go and either over-cooked his entry or didn't care on a blind corner these videos s
t me up the wall. I would argue you are pushing the cars limit more by keeping up a good pace whilst staying in the confines of your lane. I don't mind if it's a private test track but Route Napoleon is a public road, so unless you had the local fuzz close it off for you (unlikely) even with spotters you are risking an accident. Cocks used to do it all the time on the road between Kinglake and St Andrews here in Victoria, and on the Great Ocean Road, and it's even less fun seeing it whilst you're on a motorbike. Plus it doesn't even look good, all it tells us is that you can't push the car that much on a public road. Stupid.
