Can't imagine how big a mess this would be for insurance.

Some high price motors and acid would mean stripping the damaged panel to bare metal and repainting.

One of the cars was a Ferrari 456 at £30k so i imagine it'll be hard to sell.

And surely the other cars would be CAT D so would be sold at significantly less.

Hope insurance sorts this out quick.

Would the dealership not just have a regular insurance policy for it's stock combined. Therefore cars are fixed without going on the register?

Just a gut feel.....doubt that's a random attack, probably worth looking back over deals that didn't go well

I used to work at a franchised dealership which was doing a roaring trade and a jealous local Independent dealer took the hump. He arranged for some "yoofs" to break into our secure compound and cover about 50 cars in acid, it was poured all over them including side panels and wheels and made some mess. He chose to do it on the night before the new reg was issued in September and I had 15 or so cars wrecked before they could be collected.

Bearing in mind where it is, I'd go with protection he hasn't paid.

Bit like saying a fire in a Liverpool nightclub is a random arson attack.

Like all good journos, sensationalism before facts. thumbup

Bangor isn't a sthole and NI, like the rest of the UK, isn't one big protection racket.

I had a motortrader client who has car's attacked with acid four times, the cars would come back from being resprayed and within a couple of days would be attacked again.

He did not claim for the last two incidents and to ensure the Insurers would keep offering cover he had to fence in the car lot with perspex to stop the attacks.

Did they do a pH test? I would say probably alkaline, not acid.

Agreed. I reckon some insurance scam, but then I'm a cynic.
