Itd be foolish in the extreme to turn up for a job which incorporates any element of driving with expired points on your licence.
I don't undrstand why...Last set of points on my licence are from '98, so I guess expired in 2002?
It shows I've been a good boy for 15-16 years.
Why would I be any more of a risk than someone with a brand new copy of their licence, who collected their last set of pints 4 years and 2 weeks ago... (And indeed, why are they a risk, they've behaved for 4 years too).

It shows you've got previous. If it was down to the wire between you and another applicant and there was nothing else to draw between the two of you, it could possibly have a bearing on their selection. Why risk it for the sake of £20? If applying for a new job, I would assume it's to better a current position/salary so it would pay for itself.

Legally they can ask for a clean licence not a clean lifetime of driving unless it's a criminal record like drink driving etc. A few SP30s over the course of your life is nothing to anyone.GC8 said:
Legally, they can choose to employ whoever than damn-well please, and you have no idea what preconceived ideas or prejudices any of the people who may be involved might hold.
Clever internet arguing doesn't trump common-fking-sense, even on a PH.
You're missing the point or running off on a tangent. A clean licence is one without points, yes? Unless they interrogate their interviewee on their entire driving history their points will mean nothing because they won't exist on their licence - they have expired. You brought up the subject of expired points counting against someone which is just not the case. If the points were active on someones licence such as a taxi driver or police officer then that's pretty sensible.Clever internet arguing doesn't trump common-fking-sense, even on a PH.
Of course they can chose who to employ but not on the basis of something that doesn't exist.
It's not clever internet arguing so calm down
