Urgent smart repair Coventry and a cautionary tale
Discussion
Took my Merc to a usual and long-standing hand car wash. On returning home there were 5 varying sized spots where the clear coat had been compromised. I've taken a pic of one of the smaller ones. Two were on near side, one nearer centre and 2 more off side.
Sadly, I thought I could fix them myself which I now know I can't
3 things;
1) Do you think this is sort outable by smart repair? The car is obsidian black pearl. Mainly the cluster fk I created trying to fix it.
2) I am fairly confident the damage was at the car wash- first time I've not got out and checked (was playing Empires and Allies iOS) But I'm not totally sure. The car had done a fair few miles recently and was dirty, hence my uncertainty. Any other ideas?
3) Anyone good and mobile Leamington/ Rugby/ Cov?
Pic one is the small circle around centre. Pic 2 is my woeful attempt to fix a bigger one.
Thanks,
Enus

From the pics the damage was quite clearly already present.
I'd agree with that^.That first pic may have happened at the carwash but the underlying problem was already there as if your paintwork was fine even a jetwash wouldn't have done that, so I wouldn't be blaming them although it MAY have happened whilst they were working on it.
As for the second one....what were you using, a brillopad?! Ouch.
I'm no paint sprayer but I've got a feeling that colour is going to be a bh to match undetectably and therefore will probably rule out a "smart" repair.
A mate of mine owns this place and does some decent work. They're based in Warwick

An easy smart repair, lose the top edge under the light and blend in on the lower section of the bumper.
Don't worry too much, call your local guy and they'll do a good enough job on it.
Thanks shake- been feeling lousy all weekend about this and you've cheered me up, cheers to you sir.Don't worry too much, call your local guy and they'll do a good enough job on it.

I recently used http://www.ncrc.co.uk/ and found them very good on service and price.
You get a decent discount for going direct rather than through your insurance co.
You'll need to leave the car at their site though.

I had a couple of these on the Civic, caused/aided by stone chips. Rather than use a belt sander like you seem to have done, I masked the area and used a couple of coats of spray lacquer! Not perfect but it held up well and stopped it from peeling further. Smart repair shouldn't cost too much for those though
