That tells me that VW group sales are starting to tank, despite what some muppets on here are saying. They've been believing what VW dealers have been telling them that sales haven't been affected, clearly they have. Seriously though, this is not good news for VW group or their dealers, nor for every member of staff who works in their network. They shouldn't have cheated should they!!

Their year to date still looks healthy but it's certainly taken a drop - I'd be interested to see how that looks come new registration time in March, if it's still on a downer after that I'd expect a few people at VW HQ to be pretty worried.

And yet Citron (?) or Renault had the greatest fall in new registrations. So explain that, anyone who is going to draw conclusions from these numbers....

In reality, one month on its own, or even 1 quarter on its own, is not a good indicator of a change in buyer attitudes. Audi for example sold more cars than it did last year in the month.

Id imagine that the majority of the population has no idea that Volkswagens/Audis/Seats/Skodas are all but the same bits underneath and so somebody put off by the recent VW scandal might just go and buy an Audi instead.

Very true, I've had plenty of people look at me confused when I try to explain this.

Citroen's downturn is mainly because DS has now been separated as a brand.

Someone on here said he knows someone who did just that. Cancelled his Volkswagen Golf order in outrage, went to the Audi dealership nextdoor and ordered an A3 instead.

Is that a fact? Why on earth have they done that?

I think it's so Citroen is the mainstream stuff, and DS is the "posher" bit.
