I keep a large empty fabric softener bottle (wide neck, large capacity) in case I need a pee.

Cloths for wiping the windscreen.

These media things do make me laugh. Recommending we pack enough provisions to survive the Zombie apocalypse because of traffic jams!

You know what else is great for hydration? A bottle of water.

"Junk food can give you short bursts of energy but it won't be sustained, so you may feel tired and lacking energy fairly quickly," she says.

Why? What will you need the energy for if you're sat in your car going nowhere for 14 hours??

I rarely get stuck in massive traffic though, my record is about 30 minutes of slow crawling. Won't my tub of watermelon go off and rancid quite quickly? Especially in the heat we have had recently.

What do I do then? Or, sods law, I'll have taken my tub of rotten watermelon slush out, ready to buy a new tub and be caught in a 10 hour holdup in the b4010 en route to the shops to buy some more. It's a loose/loose situation

My glovebox is too full of random crap to fit a tub of fruit in it anyway

Did none of you specify the chilled watermelon holder and slicer on your brand new leased Golf R then? More fool you...

No-one likes a show off!

Contents of my glovebox:

Manual - unread
A couple of those French breathalizers that weren't needed after all
Biro that has dried out
Charging cables for a phone I no longer use.

Would it seem odd if I said gloves?

I keep the gizmo for my locking wheel nuts in there wrapped in a piece of kitchen paper.

Nope. Literally the first word that came to mind.. I was going to make a crude joke mentioning a certain displaced youth in a country close to spain, but figured best not.

Not read the link, but surely a bottle of water trumps a watermelon for hydration?

In my glovebox, an ancient 10" Samsung netbook and a genuine VCDS cable. Both have a worth of about £350. Used once, but were always left in the car 'just in case'.

Yeah I should probably relocate those, especially since the car they are sat in at the moment is now a BMW laugh
