Bad crash at my local boy racer meet
Discussion
So tonight it finally happened , a car pulled out In front of a Nisan racing at about 70, he was forced into the central reservation where about 20 people were standing ! It’s looks really bad , I’d be amazed if no deaths ! This is a local meet in Stevenage.
Lots of videos circulating , it was a crazy dangerous situation and I’m surprised it’s taken this long

Two dead apparently. There’s a lot of chatter about it on the Reading Jap Meet group as the same problem with crowds on the exit happens. They group right on the exits and anyone leaving can’t see to their right for traffic approaching.
It a terrible thing to happen but really people should know better than to stand 2 feet from a road with people doing 70mph+.

40 mph bit of road.
The 350z definitely wasn't doing that.
I've nothing against car meets but anyone driving like that Nissan around them deserves maximum sentence.

Just round the corner from me, that's a 40mph stretch uphill off a roundabout, just opposite Stevenage FC stadium.
Seen the video, looks bad. Used to have a Cruise-Herts sticker on my car years ago, back then all we could afford were Fiestas and small hatchbacks - maybe an old Scoobie! Crazy what cars these young 20-somethings are driving to these meets now.
Hope the fatality rumours are just that.

Our young sales guy used to go weekly , some of the cars have over 700bhp driven by 20 year olds , just undeclared mods . There was a Ferrari and a V10 R8 last week , down to old MK3 Escorts ! Oddly they put a barrier in the car park today to keep them out , but it’s not operational till tomorrow. They where moaning on the Cruise Herts website about it
Just hearing about this, am only down the road and used to post on the cruise herts forums back in the day.
I watched the vid though, and I'm amazed at the stupidity of both drivers and crowd... in a situation like that its only going to be a matter of time before something goes badly wrong.
I don't go to these night time static meets/cruises for very good reason, and they give a bad name to modified car owners on a wider scale.

Awful. Drove past the meet just before 8pm.
You've got to be going some to get that speed up on that short section from the roundabout.
Agree with posters mentioning the lack of sense of those standing there. Tiny, pavement height central divide.
Fingers crossed it's only 2 fatalities, there will be life changing injuries to others I'm sure.
I didn't think I'd yearn for the days of max power's 1 litre st boxes, evidently they were halcyon days if this is the consequence of massive performance accessible to all.

Shocking news that two are dead, but why on earth are people stood in the middle of the road.
because instagram yo and because of selfies and people falling off cliffs dying whilst taking them..sadly, its the way things are with people who wont know better - more people will line up in the same spot at the next 'meet'

You don't do 70mph on a road lined with pedestrians ffsIt a terrible thing to happen but really people should know better than to stand 2 feet from a road with people doing 70mph+.
Is there a full video out there? The one I've seen cuts out just before the cars collide.
The Nissan speeding way over the limit, the BMW trying to spin his wheels and trying to get a bit "sideways" coming out of the junction, people standing in harms way in the middle of a road, a recipe for disaster.
I've always found the idea of these car meets a bit cringey, but these guys don't do themselves any favours.
