2 stroke engines for the public - should we ban them?

I can’t remember the last time I saw … or smelled … a 2 stroke motorbike? Do they even sell them still?
Interestingly Trabant cars from East Berlin had a 2 stroke engine. But also a bodyshell ahead of its time made from composites rather than steel.
Dirt bikes, trials bikes etc. Still plenty of 2-stroke models and still sold (and widely used) today.Interestingly Trabant cars from East Berlin had a 2 stroke engine. But also a bodyshell ahead of its time made from composites rather than steel.

should 2 stroke engined vehicles/ tools/ etc be banned for the public? the answer is yes by the way.
Do you fly, consume luxury products, eat meat.. shall we ban all of those things? You do also realise something current like a KTM TPI only produced 64.7 CO2 g/km…..
“ The all-new fuel-injected two-stroke (“TPI”) enduro models introduced by both KTM and Husqvarna for 2018 come with a long list of claimed benefits: reduced fuel consumption, automatic elevation compensation, enhanced rideability and performance, reduced emissions, smooth engine behavior, reduced fuel evaporation”
I run all my 2stroke tools on Husqvarna pre-mixed fuel . It produces 90% less carbon monoxide. I had one running in the garage for quite a while yesterday and it really doesn't bother me. I'm not daft enough to do it for too long though.
Down side? Its about twice the price of a gallon of ordinary petrol.
What do you suggest we use as fuel for chainsaws, strimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers and so on? Wouldn't a 4stroke be much heavier and not so high revving thus requiring a gearbox to get the necessary blade speed which would bring more wait?

Battery powered garden tools are the answer. They're getting better all the time.
Sales of new 2 stroke outboard motors were effectively stopped in the UK and EU in the early '00s because none of them met the revised Recreational Craft Directive on pollution.
Most of the ones sold prior to that have siezed solid or corroded to dust now but there's still a few in use including several of the worst ever polluting like these British Seagull contraptions which are indestructible.

the reason for my comments is experience of living in the peak district, which is absolutely inundated with dirt bikes at the weekends.
nothing spoils a nice walk in the hills like the stink of 2 stroke hanging in the air as a line of dirt bikes go past, accompanied by the irritating noise they make. don't get me wrong, i get exploring on dirt bikes, but just think there could be a better way of propelling them
then you get someone who has got hold of a felled tree hacking it up with a chainsaw all day. serenaded by a 2 stroke engine. lovely.

This what bugs me about this country. No tolerance. We live in a small country and there are going to be times when you have to be near people doing something you don’t like. If we all asked for everything that annoyed us to be banned no one would be able to do anything. If the bikes are being ridden legally and you still don’t like it, find somewhere else to walk. There a plenty of footpath not open the motor vehicles.
