G-Power channels M4 GTS with new 700hp G4M

Remember the old M4 flagship? Need a new M4 with even more power and attitude? G-Power is on hand

Once upon a time (in 2016), the BMW M4 GTS was as wild and as outlandish as an M car got, complete with orange-tinted wheels, matching roll cage and carbon rear wing. These days it looks almost modest given the rest of the M lineup. G-Power has already dabbled with the current generation of M3 and M4 (making, among other things, a 720hp Touring); now it’s decided to evoke the old GTS with this, the G4M Bi-Turbo.

Obviously it’s got loads more power, because that’s what G-Power does and this S58 3.0-litre already has a reputation for massive gains with some choice mods. So with nothing more than G-Power’s software, racier cats, sports downpipes and an exhaust, this is a 700hp M4. That’s almost 200hp more than a standard Competition with not all that much changed; 627lb ft on top is almost another 150 points extra. It’s going to be ludicrously fast.

But that's only part of it. The important stuff is G-Power’s carbon add-ons, including the ‘GP Shrunken’ front corners, GP Dynamic front spoiler, a front grille like a CSL, the GP Venturi bonnet and rear wing. Apparently, the bonnet boasts Dynamic Venting tech which actually improves thermal management in the engine bay.  They can all be visible carbon or painted, and there are side skirts not fitted to this car available. Just in case the standard car wants for impact.

The wheels are G-Power’s ‘tried and tested’ Hurricane RR forged rims, an inch larger than standard at 20-/21-inch and a fraction wider at 285-/295-section front and rear. Big, yes, but with 700hp to manage you’ll probably want as much contact patch as possible. The orange tint that brings to mind the old GTS is designed to ‘lend a splash of colour to the otherwise greyish white coupe’ - talk about telling it like it is - and a similar colour can be found under the bonnet. With even more carbon, of course.

It won’t be for everyone, sure, though that’s always how tuning goes. What feels fairly unavoidable is just how much power can be generated from that twin-turbo engine for so relatively little. While the entire G4M twin-turbo conversion is €30,000, the good stuff to get to 700hp is less than half that; at current exchange rates, the €14,300 G-Power asks is just under £12k.

Obviously that sort of work will be possible in the UK as well, and we know from prior experience that the M3 is capable of handling it. Could be quite hard to resist with the earliest G8xs out of warranty this year and already at £50k. But maybe go easy on the orange.

like their upgrades. The thinking man's Mansory. 😆
Even the colour choices are less.....well German, than some of the tooners.
700bhp strikes me as a bit lacking though.

Is that tongue in cheek ?

Think 700 bhp would be fine, I find with under half that I can get to jail type speeds very quickly.

Does look a bit like a training shoe in that spec though.

700bhp....I wonder what it's like other than on a bit of motorway. An M3/4 was always supposed to be a fast executive saloon or coupe something you were proud to own. 700bhp just makes me think you hang around tesco car park next to hatfield tunnel on the A1.

Each to their own I guess

These cars are more akin to a German equivalent of a muscle car than anything else.

With zero internal changes I'm not convinced I'd want one out of warranty.

To do 621bhp from the 4.4 v8 Alpina change the entire cooling system and the overwhelming majority of internals...

Something very "yoof" about that somehow. It makes me think of backwards baseball caps, backsides hanging out of trousers and calling people "brah".

I'm not saying that's necessarily the sort of person who drives one, it just sort of conjures that image somehow for me.

700hp sounds good from the engine, but would like such engine in a older BMW (say max e46 years) to replace to older 6 in line engines, could be great in a Z4 (M) coupe, those have a good torsional rigidi for it and not to heavy.

For older BMW's you have to strengthening parts/chassis/suspension a bit more I guess hehe

Yikes, would never even consider buying this.

But when I’m working out in Germany, if I needed to get from Frankfurt to Stuttgart and back quickly and the plant manager said “hey, take my G4M - it’s got a full tank so quick as you can eh” and threw me the keys to this… I’d be bloody ecstatic! hehe

Never liked the 4 series, just never seen the point of it. In this get up it's just hideous!!

Quite like it! Apart from the bonnet vents, they're a bit much.

Wouldn't want one myself, mind.

Looking at your garage I doubt that!

From an engineering perspective, absolutely mega thing.

Not a fan of it from the images.
The colour choice of the wheels is naff. Especially with the black & white body.
Maybe with an aftermarket front end, silver wheels, body-coloured bonnet vents, lose the chav headlight eyebrows, and body coloured rear wing, I don't think it would look bad at all.

Whilst being ugly as sin I bet it goes like a stabbed rat!

Same engine mods on a standard black touring with silver wheels would be epic. cloud9
