Ferrari passenger ride at FoS | PH Auction Block

Why watch the action when you could be a part of it?

The countdown to Goodwood Festival of Speed is well and truly on and, by now, you’re probably making a mental list of everything you’d like to cram in. The Formula 1 demos are always a must, if only to hear a screaming V10 at full pelt, as is the final shootout, because where else can you see a touring car go up against an old Le Mans racer for outright honours? And it’s always good to sit trackside for the supercar parade, if only to see which manufacturer can still make a decent-sounding engine in this age of intense regulation.

But you know what would be even better than watching supercars go up the hill? Riding shotgun in one of them. And not just any supercar, either, but the new and decidedly wonderful Ferrari 12Cilindri. That’s right, we’ve managed to secure a passenger ride up Goodwood Hill from Ferrari North Europe in its latest V12 masterpiece, and we’re auctioning it off to the highest bidder with all proceeds going to charity.

We’ve chosen a cause that’s particularly close to our hearts, too. As you may know, the devastating fire at Bicester Motion on June 15th claimed the lives of two firefighters and a local businessman. We’ll therefore be offering our support by donating the proceeds from the auction to the family of Dave Chester of Chesters & Sons, and also to the Fire Fighter Charity in honour of Jennie Logan and Martyn Sadler, the two firefighters who lost their lives tackling the blaze. We’ll round up the final winning bid so that both causes get an even split, and we’ll also be donating our usual buyer’s premium so that all the proceeds from the sale are handed to the two causes.

This isn’t an experience Ferrari North Europe hands out to anyone, either. Even its clients aren’t offered passenger rides up Goodwood Hill, no matter how many F80s they’ve ordered. So it’s a properly exclusive experience, and one you won’t forget in a hurry. During the climb, you’ll have a front-row seat to the 12Cilindri’s 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 revving all the way up to 9,250rpm, where the engine delivers everything it has to give - all 830hp of it. Your experience on the day will be piloted by one of Ferrari’s professional drivers, so you can be sure that you’ll be getting the full 12Cilindri effect.

Now, the details. The run takes place on Saturday, July 12th at 15:00 (don’t worry, we’ll include a pair of tickets in the sale), but you’ll need to make your way to the supercar paddock by 14:00 at the latest to get signed on and grab a helmet, which will be provided on the day. You’ll also need to have your arms, legs and feet covered on the day, so no t-shirts, shorts or flip-flops. You can read the full list of Ts and Cs at the link here.

If that wasn’t enough, we’ll also chuck in a pair of tickets to our Annual Service show on 9th August, and include £100 worth of PistonHeads merchandise straight from our Goodwood Festival of Speed stand. So please make time to drop a bid for what is not just a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but also one that’ll benefit two very worthy causes.

I'm struggling to get over how unattractive this is. The 12 Ciliantro makes the 456 look like an absolute work of art.
To my eyes this is quite possibly the worst looking Ferrari ever.

Looks are subjective, but whilst in the pictures I love the front but find the back challenging, having seen a couple on the road, overall they are a stunning and imposing looking thing.

A ride up the hill in one will be an awesome experience.

Great experience for two very worthy causes. Does it really matter what the car looks like?

Opposite for me, it's lovely and FAR better looking than the over-styled 812 it replaces.

Opposite for me, it's a very good looking car and I'm very sure Ferrari will have zero problem selling every single one they make. Judging from the re-sale prices, the market would also agree that they're desirable.

Opposite for me, not the prettiest of cars to me.

I'd love a ride in many of the back catalogue, but wouldn't really go out of my way to go in that.
Be just like any other modern, mega powered, mega computer car.

I sincerely hope that this makes a decent amount money, there are some very generous folks out there, but I'd really prefer to see this type of giveaway based around a cheap ticket with a winner being drawn at the end. This type of auction just limits it's potential audiance to those with the most disposable cash at the end of the day, I'd love to think that somebody who would never normally be anywhere close to being able to enjoy an experience such as this should have an equal chance of doing so - absolute wealth not being a limiting factor as to whether or not it could be achievable. I think that it could potentially raise more funds as well - maybe being a bit harder to set up and manage being taken into account.

Current bid is 701, whoever gets it could probably afford to hire one for the day!

I'm sure if they offered raffle tickets on the day for a tenner they would make more money and the winner could be someone who never get that kind of opportunity again.

Looks great in reality. 456GT is also a looker but of course far less aggressive. The worst looking production Ferrari so ignoring weird stuff like the Drogo breadvan is the Portofino, broadly an F12 supercar front on a California GT back, and quite unbalanced from most angles.

What a bunch of callous people PH'ers are... or you've just looked at the pictures. It's for charity. It's not like any if you could afford the car anyway. I give up.
