it will be at the post office, apparently if i do it online i cant drive the car untill the disc arrives.
Last few years ive done my tax online and driven the car whilst waiting for the disc , Anpr will show the car as taxed and tested when you have got a disc online.DennisTheMenace said:

Don't forget though that it is still an offence to not display a valid disc, even if you have one.
AIUI, there is now a period of 5 days grace where a vehicle does not have to display a disc when tax has been purchased online. But for this grace period to apply, the new tax is required to have been purchased before the old tax has expired.dougc said:

There's some really confusing and conflicting info out there.
The situation as I understand it is as follows ....
1: It is an offence not to display a current valid disc.
2: There is no grace period from expiry
3: According to the DVLA (radio ads and website), as soon as you buy online, then you're 'covered' .... but this conflicts with the law (as per item #1 above).
So as I understand it, 1 and 3 contradict each other.
Is anyone qualified to confirm one way of the other?

From bitter experience you will be done if you are caught with no tax disc displayed, even if you have purchased it. I was done by a tax discs camera because the tax was lying on the dash and not displayed properly where they could see it. It was fully paid up and valid but not visible.
