Things you found on your car, after a period of ownership
Discussion
I have just found that my rear seats on my Peugeot coupe don't just fold forward and stay at a rubbish 45 degree angle, but actually fold perfectly flat, if you pull the lower rear seat up and out.
I know I should read the manual etc but I must have missed this bit. However I thought that the rubbish 45 degree design was a French quirk etc. it wasn't until I was lookingvat buying a bike rack that after a bit of sewrching online I noticed a pic of a fully folded seat.
I know, cool story dude, but have you ever owned a car that after a reasonable period of ownership you suddenly noticed a new storage compartment or trick that the car had all along?

My old VX220 came with a Nokia 8210 under the pax seat - it had clearly fallen out of someone's pocket and ended up in the gap that is physically impossible to access without taking the seat out (which also involves modifying tools to fit in the ridiculous space).
Only just noticed the other day that in my M3, that when you flip the seat forward to let someone in/out of the back, if you push a little harder it "clicks" into place so it doesn't keep falling back down.
Took me ages to work out I could get a flat floor in my old ZS if I flipped the rear bench up before putting the rear seats down too.

Having bought an old BMW from a police auction, can you imagine the surprise I got when I found 1/2 a kilo of heroin in the air filter when I serviced it a couple of months later, it more than got me my money back for the car!
You pull out the headlight knob to get the rear foglight on (focus)
The fuel filler cap on a Volvo XC90 doesn't lock immediately when you lock the doors, but does so after about 10 minutes. This is so one can lock the car when filling up apparently. I found this out after complaining to dealer that it wasn't working correctly. RTFM in future I suppose!

I found that in order to turn on the parking lights on my 156 you have to turn the key backwards and pull it out. Only found out because they didn't work and it failed the MOT. Honestly who uses their parking lights?
My MR2 doesn't have 'parking lights', but I have in the past used lights to park cars, why not if it assists you in getting the job done?As for discovering things on my MR2, I discovered a seat base tilt control after a few weeks of ownership. It's fantastic, I can now tilt the front lip of the lower part of the seat upwards, making it even more comfortable. I always thought after my Volvo S60 I'd never find another car seat that impressed me so much, yet here we are with the fantastic MR2 seats!
Something I forgot to mention - when you park up, if you leave the indicator stalk indicating left or right, the corresponding sidelight and taillight will remain on. It's meant for just illuminating one side of the car when parked on a dark road etc, quite handy - and only found it when I accidentally hit the switch when trying to extract a CD from outside the car!
A friend of mine bought a new car. We went out as a foursome with him and his OH in the front seats and me and my OH in the back. I was rummaging about in the back checking out his new ride (as you do) and found a pair of women's shoes under the front passenger seat which I pulled out and declared. His OH went utterly bonkers. They weren't hers.......
