Also it looks like a Sport spec (wheels, steering wheel, spoiler, etc.) but by then I thought it would have had the later M Sport spoiler on it (did the 528 ever come with the later M Sport spec.?)
I can only guess it's registered a lot later than it's build date. Or that I'm totally clueless
Oh, and other than that it looks quite nice.

I believe on "the thread" they have quite a few fans. V6 and tonnes of leather for £1300 cannot be that bad. The Memory seats weigh a tonne though (I was formerly an engineer on indentical Vectra seats)http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2011...

Hoping for some luck on the barge / bargette front myself this weekend...
What are you looking at?Maybe a sneaky 328i too. I have to make it friendly for the missus, so I suspect it's go 330i, but I can hope for a V8...

Z-man, these 5 pots in the V50, more prone to bork you say?
In what way and significantly so?
Not significantly, just lots o fminor niggles, mostly electronic quirks that half an hour with the diagnostic machine sorted, but they'd go into "limp" mode often enough. Later ones less so, so perhaps an early production problem. But that was seven years ago, what they're like at present age and mileages, I've less idea. In what way and significantly so?
But I'd still avoid them based on that early exposure. However I really liked the NA 2.4i auto drivetrain, similarly thirsty and slow as it was. It just couldn't better 27mpg with the best behaviour in the world. Whereas an S60 petrol auto can, routinely.

All being well, three x 330i, a brace of 540is and a 740i Sport that happens to be on the way between some of the others.

You need to try to convince her that you need the space of a 5 or 7er. Maybe a sneaky 328i too. I have to make it friendly for the missus, so I suspect it's go 330i, but I can hope for a V8...
You're only trying to be practical, right?
That said, a nice example of a 330 is still very a good thing.

I merely have some bum fluff but surely a 2001 X plater wouldn't be ginger, (or perhaps even a 528)? My W plate 535 isn't ginger.

No, you're on the money. A Sport pack (distinct from the Sport model) E39 should have clear lenses. Yours is a Sport model, which is why it has clears. 2000MY pre-facelift non-Sports also would have had them. There is no M Sport spec for E39 though, but you could get 528i Sports from late 1999 (V reg) onwards, until the facelifted and M54 engined (525i/530i Sport) cars superseded them in Sep 2000 for the 2001 model year.

I rejected them because it can't get three on the rear seat IIRC....http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2011...
